I've tried CS but honestly IT companies are gay af. This programming nonsense is getting out of control everybody is doing it. All you can do is make websites, apps and some shitty custom software for a company. AI and Machine learning is a meme only top scientists think about the real important parts and the slave construction job is left to us. Programming is so gay you have to look up so many thing and constantly learn new nonsense "muh technologies" and deal with new bullshit ways to work as a team. I'm not sure if networking & security is any good yet but it seems better.
All economics and finance related can fock off right away. Not going to work in that shitty industry. It sucks dick. What I believe is that engineering or chemistry degrees are the only way to be forever in demand but I'm too old and don't want to test a new education out to find out I dont like it. Might as well continue CS.
What are the best degrees anons. I genuinly hated my life always and still do I really wamt to go all out and changr it now. Bless me with your guidance fellow soldiers of freedom.
Doesn't make them all any less useless. Learn a trade instead.
David Wood
Yep. Combine finance and programming and you’re rolling in money
Jeremiah Brooks
Office jobs are better. Trades are the last resort. The back-breaking labor, chemical fumes, and large chance of accidents is going wreck your body or kill you sooner or later.

Pure math will extend your brain like no other. Too bad no one seems to care and that you don't really get math jobs. That being said, pure math + programming is a great combo. It doesn't make CS suck less but it does make it worthwhile now that you can abstract problems better than most with only CS.
And yes, stay the fuck away from finance. I almost got trapped in that shit.
John Morgan
Learn cryptography. Like take as many cryptography classes that you can and learn that shit religiously. Cryptography and crypto-systems (not just cryptocurrency) is the future of the internet. That is guaranteed. Also data science/predictive analytics is a big meme now
Blake Edwards
This, mathematics is incredibly important in almost every industry. But you can't learn just math, you have to apply it to a field somehow (muh applied mathematics) and CS is a good way to do that. Proofs based math is hard as fuck for me but it's so fucking useful
Mason Anderson
Don't you have to be a genius 5000 iq to do that? Only genius mathematicians invent new cryptographies. I dont know what you mean by crypto systems. I thought about focusing on anything that blockchain is releasing. It's like learning to make an android app back in the day.
Jeremiah Ortiz
Why not a classy trade like (((jew)))ler?
Blake Diaz
Honestly, I love finance. I interned at a hedge fund of like 12 people (9 interns) and we made a bet on a food company and made $30mm in one day. It was the most incredible thing I had ever been a part of professionally up to that point.
Finance really distorts your view of money, but after that trade I was unironically like, "yep, I wanna do this for the rest of my life."
(also my 1st post on Jow Forums, a pleasure, mates)
Mason Cooper
You need to he a genius 5kiq to invent new systems but you don't need to be if you just wanna learn cryptography. It is hard to learn don't get me wrong, but it's a lot less than inventing stuff
Thomas Cook
You don't have to invent new cryptographic algorithms to be useful. You can use a fundamental understanding of cryptography to create something useful. For example, cryptocurrency uses cryptography to prove that a user owns an address (and the funds to that address, and the next valid block, etc). You can also use cryptography to prove your identity and a host of other things that haven't been developed yet. My point is that in the future I suspect cryptography will be very useful in building distributed/decentralized networks and I believe that is where the internet is headed.
Liam Perry
I'm thinking of doing engineering and learning programming myself. Honestly that combination seems better than CS. CS is low level math degree with additional programming and computer related topics.
Asher Martinez
Good advice. Will look into it.
Charles Phillips
Where the fuck have you been if this is your first post here?

>What are the best degrees anons. Hands-on >Chemical engineering >Material sciences >Electrical engineering Office cuck-tier but still good >Industrial engineering
Evan Gray
fag
Joseph Rodriguez
Also civil engineering but you get to work with unwashed tradesmen so it may not be worth it.
Anthony Nelson
Wasting my time! That's what I've been doing
You're not wrong!
Leo Carter
>He thinks CS only gets you jobs at IT companies Cringe
>I'm too lazy to learn. If you think you can have a meaningful job without having to learn constantly, you're mistaken. And if you're too stupid for CS I don't know if you can do engineering. But most importantly stop thinking about what makes the most money and instead think about what you enjoy (or at least don't hate) doing the most. Cope harder, you loser.
