Unemployment is only at 'record lows' because a lot of people have stopped looking for jobs or they work shitty part time jobs for 10 hours a week without benefits.

Part time jobs and "discouraged workers" don't count towards the unemployment rate. Discouraged workers are people who have simply given up looking for jobs and get put in their own category. iirc when I was learning about this in econ, they were actually different ratings for unemployment that include different variables, and we commonly see the one that doesn't include discouraged workers.
