i remember reading, like a decade ago or more, an article about some respected scientist who was convinced that nanomachines would make us immortal within our lifetime. the article asked some of his peers what they thought about the viability of this, and they basically all thought the guy just couldn't come to grips with the realization that he has to die, there's no way around it.

it's interesting to think about how this could be amplified if you're rich and or comfortable in your life; most of us are just chasing dollars for our whole lifetimes, dreaming about the day we can buy or do whatever we want. but once that problem -- which is not really a problem that's supposed to be completely solved for any human being -- is gone, you realize the threat that's probably the most compelling and immediate (running out of food, essentially) is now replaced by more vague ones: someone can kill you, your general health will only get worse with time, and you're going to die and it's going to happen somewhat soon.

- He states only Bitcoin Gold has been attacked. Wrong. Many exchanges have been successfully 51% attacked against multiple cryptos.

- He states that Dogecoin is a useless shitcoin that is secure, therefore all shitcoins are secure. Wrong. Dogecoin is merge-mined, which means it shares hashing power with much stronger coins.

- He states that shitcoins would be fine if they had a terrible hashrate and just rolled back the chain each time it was successfully attacked. Wrong. History has shown that this causes a loss of confidence, and coins which cannot be properly secured are dropped by exchanges. This also completely ignores mining as a distribution method, which is a core concept of Bitcoin.

Existing systems suck. While its super easy to sign a memo on ETH for 30 cents to trigger the masses. You cant easily be banned on crypto social media and you can monetize on it without anyone really being able to stop you. Oh its far better for Monetization schemes because you can offshoot micro transactions on a dex as well as provide a better platform for indie game developers to cross pollinate intellectual property with no cost to maintaining a database. Proof of stake coins allow you to provide players with tokens generated for free that the player base will value independently and allow you to collect a cut from each trade.
