Also if you're still on your parents insurance, try to get into a rehab facility. You'll have a comfy place to stay for a month and they will usually try to hook you up with a halfway/recovery house to live at if you're homeless.

I'm assuming you're a drug addict, OP. This is when you have to ask yourself: What's more important? Having somewhere to sleep or the addiction? If you choose the latter, you're never going to make it. Call the nearest rehab. Anything will do. Its hard to believe sometimes but there are people in this world that exist to help you. I say rehab because one, you're a drug addict, and two because they have social workers and resources to get you out of this hole. You will meet people in the same position who can provide you hope and advice. You'll receive mental health care. A comfy bed and suboxone if you need it. I don't know how it would work with your insurance but I was in rehab with plenty of homeless people, they get accepted somehow. You just have to try.

Are you able-bodied? Can you clean up to look at least half-decent?
If so walk to literally any construction site and ask for work. You'll probably be carrying buckets all day but it's something and you'll get at least 15 an hour for it. Double it if you can do quick mental math and run a skilsaw straight. Don't tell them you're homeless.
You're still alive so you obviously have some sort of resource available to you. Use that until your first few paychecks arrive then find a cheap place to live. If you are *actually* homeless you should be able to go to your local social services department and apply for section 8 assuming you're in the U.S.
There's plenty of opportunities out there man.

Step 2: Apply for any job you can get.
Step 3: Live in a car, get a gym membership for a shower.
Step 4: Go to job corp, trade school, or the military and learn something you can get a job in.
Step 5: Rent an apartment, probably with roommates.

No need to go crazy. If you live in the United States, or any Western country really, you can easily get back on your feet if you try to. Going from homeless to poor is probably easier than going from poor to middle-class. Most long term homeless people are addicts or the mentally ill. Your chances of getting back into society are pretty good. If you already have a car then you're fucking golden.
