You need to keep an eye on which companies and industries are creating pocs that will utilize external data. These pocs will always start on permissioned networks and will include private chainlink networks. The first stage of these projects going to public chains will be a mirror of the permissioned network.

Chainlink is a great project but the curriencies in cryptocurrencies is DOA. This is actually giving a black eye to the real value in dlt, smart contracts utilizing external data, legacy systems, and payments.

Yes and smartcontract has made quite a few smart contracts w/ their own oracles as pocs to show large enterprise their benefits. Right now all crypto is bunched up in a boom bust ponzi that many companies are waiting for others to use before utilizing.

The team is showing that any of these smart contracts could be put on trustless main net but there is no guarantee of use. Most pocs are just pocs with no real value, even though these companies could literally use chainlink right now. Right now bank A could run a bond using chainlink testnet, or smartcontract, or oraclize but we are just not there yet. 2019 is wishful thinking for many use cases. This will be gradual until it becomes a race.

Smartcontract made a poc for Swift. This poc included a "smart oracle" to pull data for bonds. There was never a commitment for decentralized oracles or any blockchain main net. If you are a chainlink holder you need to hope these companies start using chainlink in a private permissioned setting and slowly crossover over the years. 2019 your chainlink node will be providing sports scores to simple betting smart contracts and similar. No legitimate bank or financial comp. using decentralized oracles in 2019. But don't get too down, run your node and collect the "node incentive" stash. This will at least keep you from wanting to shut your node off for lack of usage.
