Why is pay so shit in the UK?
This is the second time I've been offered a job by a British company and both times the salary per annum has been around 20,000 GBP.
And this is for a position that requires a master's degree.
Is this normal is britbong land?
It is. Wages here aren't that good. When I was working 20k was actually something to smile about, still is, there's a lot of 13-18k jobs around.

I'm already making 34k per annum in my current job and that's considered low in my country. There's no way I'm willing to give up a job that pays 50% less for the potential prospect of maaaaaybe making more in 5-10 years. Hell no.

If you are on 34k equivalent already, then you are not a grad - 2nd job in London should be targeting £30k+

Translation/localisation tough to command premium salary as there are already a lot of bilingial speakers in London/UK.
I'd suspect you have better opportunities to increase your income if you freelanced outside of salaried hours.

If you do a degree that isnt in high demand, you arent going to get paid a lot. Common sense. My starting graduate salary was £30k (and outside of London).

Earning £29k in my first grad job in the south east. Pay is really shit when you compare the salary to ones in the US for my industry (software eng in a consultancy)
