Love this channel senpai.

I hate to be party pooper but peasants rarely ate animal products before green revolution.
Btw, salmon is highly contaminated, you should avoid it: youtu.be/RYYf8cLUV5E

They also worked less and had much more fulfilling lives because they did fulfilling manual outdoors work, and lived in cohesive communities where everyone knows one another.
They had spiritual fulfilment instead of postmodern nothingness anxiety.
Not to mention the unspoilt nature, top comfy architecture, and peak art.

There’s been a constant bashing of medieval European peasant life because “they” want you to be content with modern wage slavery.

Personally, apart from modern medicine, I’d rather live in those days.

I mean look at this shit.

>no work because it's winter
>no constant car noise background
>top comfy buildings
>all there is to do is come together outside for fun winter activities, and then all huddle around the fire with a hot drink

Attached: bird-trap.jpg (1145x717, 225K)

Nowadays it's considered a luxury to have a legit open fire, and people travel halfway across the globe to see medieval-style buildings (e.g. Bruges etc.).

People also pay insane prices to visit actual "wilderness" (i.e. space), while back then even some decently-sized woods (which were EVERYWHERE) held a non-trivial level of mystery waiting to be explored.

That pic is from Pieter Bruegel 1565, was painted during the small ice age. During this time they had mass starvation and basically hunted witches / jews and other minorities as a consequence. Was pretty funny since they just came out of the 30 years war and the population in europe doubled. Accordingly they had now food and winter was all year for years nonstop. Sucked dick.

open fire does not heat the room, it leaves you chilled on the side facing away and causes cold airflow that almost cancels out the fire. fun for a while as an 'experience', but not actually desirable compared to an insulated room. You are forgetting that as soon as something *can* be avoided, it becomes cool and fun, like muffled record sound and cassette tape warble. When it can't be avoided people aren't laughing it up about how cool the warbling and uneven heat are

no
Turns out were the peasants

>That pic is from Pieter Bruegel 1565, was painted during the small ice age.
Ice age meaning wintertime fun. Look at any winterscape from that entire period, showing all classes of society.

>During this time they had mass starvation
Here come the propaganda.

The "little ice age" lasted from the 14th century until the 19th century.
This coincides with the late medieval period, the entire Renaissance, and the Enlightenment era, and even the beginnings of the industrial age.
To think this 'ice age' somehow stunted anything at all is laughably dumb since this entire period saw what many consider the peak of human advancement rate.

>basically hunted witches / jews and other minorities as a consequence
That's one dumb inference you're making.

>open fire does not heat the room, it leaves you chilled on the side facing away and causes cold airflow that almost cancels out the fire. fun for a while as an 'experience', but not actually desirable compared to an insulated room
All of this is total bullshit.

Go spend some time in any cabin-type dwelling with a fireplace.
I spend new year's eve with friends in a wood cabin in the Ardennes region of Belgium almost every year, and we have to keep windows ajar basically all the time to ventilate and allow some heat to go away.

And there was zero thought given to "muh resources" or "muh heating bill", and certainly not "muh environment". Trees were everywhere and in literally limitless supply.

>During this time they had mass starvation and basically hunted witches / jews and other minorities as a consequence
FUCK WOMEN
FUCK JEWS
FUCK MINORITIES
AND MOST OF ALL
FUCK REDDITORS LIKE YOU

Im just telling you that the picture you posted with "I mean look at this shit" is not the beautiful late medieval romance you want. If you lived in pic related (Netherlands) you would have a much more FUN time than investing in FUN this year.

I don't ever eat as good as that, only very occasionally

>Im just telling you that the picture you posted with "I mean look at this shit" is not the beautiful late medieval romance you want
Except it is exactly that.
Look at them. Look at any winterscape painting from that era.

Bruegel paintings are the ultimate eye-opener when it comes to medieval times: wintertime comfy fun in winter, satisfying outdoor communal labor in spring and fall, and tons of festivals and feasts in between.

>No work becuase its winter
Most families would have some sort of side gig like knitting, making clothes, sheets, linnen etc. There was a lot less to do in Winter but they still worked really hard.

>If you lived in pic related (Netherlands)
Also that's Flanders you uncultured swine.

>Most families would have some sort of side gig like knitting, making clothes, sheets, linnen etc. There was a lot less to do in Winter but they still worked really hard.
That's not hard work.
In paintings from the time you often see men lounging by the fire, with the wench casually embroidering or some shit in the background.
My grandparents did the same. My grandmother couldn't stop knitting shawls and such even into her 80s.

Look at those houses though, you'd be paying top dollar for that shit today. But that's how a lot of fashionable trends start. Fashion often begins with the lower classes (Jeans are a good example)

Meanwhile over at King Louis the 16th palace you'd be smelling Piss and crap everywhere and your food is being parfumed because of the horrendous smells.

>Look at those houses though, you'd be paying top dollar for that shit today.
And they were built to last, too.

Those walls were solid instead of the modern cavity wall approach, and the roofs were constructed from solid oak beams that will last forever if kept dry.

If you see actual brick buildings from that time today (they exist all around me here in Belgium), you often see the walls have "settled" to some extent, but there's no loss of structural integrity.

It is when you're making a living of of it. There is litterly nothing else in Winter to do. Ofcourse the man is chilling by the fire, he's not going to do a woman's work. There's a stark difference but you guys are romancing it up a little as if it was the good 'ol days.

They probably had a lot of holidays and feasts though

They didn't knit and embroider for monetary gain, that was for their own family.

Perhaps, I don't know that. But what Jow Forums is forgetting is that all the land, all the stock is owned by someone higher in the feudal hierarchy. And that they had to pay tremendous taxes on everything. The food might be nice but I would not want to live in that era.

Also, because you're basically property of some duke or king you'd be forced to fight should that duke, king or lord decide to wage war.

They also have shown studies that people were happier back then, I mean genuine enjoyed life. These days even millionares off themselves by suicide, suicide was practically non-existant in the middle ages feudal socities.

>Perhaps, I don't know that. But what Jow Forums is forgetting is that all the land, all the stock is owned by someone higher in the feudal hierarchy. And that they had to pay tremendous taxes on everything.
And how is this different from today?

That's because they believed committing suicide was a one-way ticket to hell.

The ability to move up and down the social ladders is vastly greater than those days. You also have healthcare and won't die from a measely infection.

Didn't say those times were better in every respect.

That said, the social mobility thing isn't true. There were many ways for people to distinguish themselves in the field of art (from peasant to world-celebrated master was a common occurrence), religion (peasants regularly rose through the ecclesiastic ranks), combat (peasants becoming generals etc.), even just work (guilds etc. held great power).

>common
Stop lying you retarded faggot.

Fuck's your problem.

Bruegel is one of the prime examples. He went from peasant to universally celebrated artist within his lifetime.
Same with tons of renowned painters.

Another example is Da Vinci, whose father was a merchant and his mother a peasant, and he was rised among peasants by his mother's side of the family.

>hunted witches / jews and other minorities
BASED
I wish we had jewish pogroms again...

I think about this from time to time. Sure we have vidya and internet - but I feel we’d all have much more fulfilling and deeper community and happiness in our hearts with a focus on family, social interactions on a community scale, and something to do with manual hard labour that we could all look forward to relaxing by a cozy fire and drink cold ale without worries of any SJW women ruining anything. I feel a bit of guilt because who am I to decide what women should or shouldn’t do. But after becoming jaded by seeing actual women either from hearing it myself in person or from watching videos on the net at how they live such empty lives revolving around themselves and even abusing their kids... it gets you to look back.

Attached: image.jpg (750x1334, 1.29M)

the average Joe live more comfortably today than the riches kings 200 years ago, and twice as long.

your can keep your fresh salmon, warm ale and germ infested bread and pottage

Attached: burger dog.png (1168x1000, 584K)

I wouldn’t want to go back to that time having experienced things like vidya and technology, plus you’re right if we wanted we could go out and have that menu because of the freedom of vast selections to choose from. I just wonder about how it would affect us all in terms of being fulfilled with closer community and shit.

Attached: image.jpg (540x810, 347K)

Live was hard but downtime is real. My dad came from a remote village in kazakstan. So last generation still lived like middle ages with no machinery or even fertilizer besides animal shit.

tldr is:
summer : work as long as sun is up taking care of fields.
winter: do repairs you don't have time for in summer. A lot more leisure time is correct though.

The real downsides are food & medicine.
You don't get to eat whole year nice. Especially winter you can forget about a wide variety. You get meat and a few things similar to german sauerkraut that can be stored longterm. And if someone got seriously ill good chance to RIP due to bad connection to next town.

>hardcore christian family
>dad beats everyone in the house with his belt
>Lords want you to fight the plebs next door
>Back breaking work day in day out
>Priest wants you to have 12 children
>Priest wants all your resources cause the Pope wants another crusade
>Get a splinter in your toe and you're dead for
>Can't escape the life because of the social hierarchy, can't go into the woods because its filled with wild animals and creeps that will rob you

GOod thing life expectancy was so low, I don't think anyone would last very long.

those closer communities was probably shit, everybody was god-fearing and if you stepped out of line you got ostracized way worse than with SJW crap today. you worked all day to grow potatoes and gave most away to your Lord and lived in fear of a bandit randomly killing you over a non-rusty bucket. at age 35 your body was all broken from manual labor from age 8 and if you ever got a small cut you're likely to die from infection because bacteria didn't even exist in those days as far as people were concerned. what is soap? if you were lucky to live to 40 enjoy the next 10 years in agony due to rotting teeth before you finally get released by sweet death around 55. probably all alone because your wife died in child birth and all your sons are off to die in some war and your daughters are someone else's property now

surprised to find the whole movie on youtube, nice that it hasn't been taken down

Attached: WALL-E-382.jpg (1435x597, 276K)

All of this is bs.

They also had disease, wore wool at all times, slept with rats and fleas, and watched 8/10 of their children die

>In the spring of 1315, unusually heavy rain began in much of Europe. Throughout the spring and the summer, it continued to rain, and the temperature remained cool. Under such conditions, grain could not ripen, leading to widespread crop failures. Grain was brought indoors in urns and pots to keep dry. The straw and hay for the animals could not be cured, so there was no fodder for the livestock. The price of food began to rise; prices in England doubled between spring and midsummer. Salt, the only way to cure and preserve meat, was difficult to obtain because brine could not be effectively evaporated in wet weather. In Lorraine, wheat prices grew by 320%, making bread unaffordable to peasants. Stores of grain for long-term emergencies were limited to royalty, lords, nobles, wealthy merchants, and the Church. Because of the general increased population pressures, even lower-than-average harvests meant some people would go hungry; there was little margin for failure. People began to harvest wild edible roots, plants, grasses, nuts, and bark in the forests.

>A number of documented incidents show the extent of the famine. Edward II of England stopped at St Albans on 10 August 1315 and had difficulty finding bread for himself and his entourage; it was a rare occasion in which the King of England was unable to eat.

>In the spring of 1316, it continued to rain on a European population deprived of energy and reserves to sustain itself. All segments of society from nobles to peasants were affected but especially the peasants, who represented 95% of the population and who had no reserve food supplies. To provide some measure of relief, the future was mortgaged by slaughtering the draft animals, eating the seed grain, abandoning children to fend for themselves (see "Hansel and Gretel") and, among old people, voluntarily refusing food for the younger generation to survive.[10] The chroniclers of the time noted many incidents of cannibalism

tl;dr - OP is an ignorant faggot

>tremendous taxes
tremendous taxes
peasants had to pay a tenth of whatever they produced. income tax + ss is oabout 50% in my country, if you ad all the indirect taxation its more like 70-80%. it also pays for muslims and niggers and all kinds of degenerates. id love to be a peasant back in the good old days fuck modern civilizatoin it was a huge mistake basically ted kaszcynski was right about everything

>watched 8/10 of their children die
Source?
Also, tons of children born today wouldn’t have survived for a reason.

>peasants had to pay a tenth of whatever they produced

peasants lived at the mercy of their feudal overlord and were abused and slaughtered en masse whenever lords went to war.

>In the Harrying of the North, William the Conqueror's solution to stop a rebellion in 1069 was the brutal conquest and subjugation of the North of England. William's men burnt whole villages from the Humber to Tees, and slaughtered the inhabitants. Food stores and livestock were destroyed so that anyone surviving the initial massacre would soon succumb to starvation over the winter. The destruction is depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry.[11] The survivors were reduced to cannibalism,[12] with one report stating that the skulls of the dead were cracked open so that the brains could be eaten. Between 100,000 and 150,000 perished and the area took centuries to recover from the damage.

Also - to you and all other ignorant retards who unironically defends feudalism and "based peasant life in the Middle Ages" should read something about The Hundred Years War or learn about Chevauchée tactics.

Fucking ignorant imbeciles. Sitting in comfy chairs in front of a pc surrounded with all modern amenities and glorifying feudalism.
You wouldn't last a year as a peasant in the middle ages, you brainlets.

>peasants lived at the mercy of their feudal overlord and were abused and slaughtered en masse whenever lords went to war.
and?
I live at the mercy of my corporate overlords and while we might not have had a real war in decades, my soul is dying every day from living in this hellscape that is modern civilization. since suicides and psychosomatic illnesses are skyrocketing, I cant be the only one.

yeah we're much better off now with endemic diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, female sex hormones in everything we eat and drink and touch and constantly being in debt to a (((central bank))), r-right fellow whites?

OK

You act as if modern wars were better.
People still burn people alive even today, large sections of land became permanently inhabitable due to minefields&chemical warfare. Especially a soviet conscript in the iron curtain during ww2 shouldn't hate his chances in medieval europe.

>eat salmon every day
>get mercury poisoning

Attached: 16e.jpg (903x960, 45K)

>I live at the mercy of my corporate overlords

Do they kill you and your entire family if you won't show up to work? Don't start with 'muh mortgage' or 'muh car loan'.

>my soul is dying every day from living in this hellscape that is modern civilization
>muh soul is dying

Shut down your PC and fuck off to some 3rd world african dictatorship then, pussy. Everything you love so much will be right there.

But you won't do that because all your moans are nothing in comparison with real hardship.

if you or other pampered morons itt were actually subjected to 'le based peasant life in the middle ages" you would scream and beg to return back to your "corporate slavery".

Problems or modern society is not a reason to defend fucking middle ages and feudalism.
I bet you retards read Hoppe or some other cocksucker and now shill for feudalism/monarchy because of that. There's a reason why that formation went down.

>diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, female sex hormones
>people literally eating themselves to death / making shit up because of lack of real problems
>OH IT'S SO HORRIBLE LET'S BURN EVERYTHING AND REVERT TO LE BASED FEUDALISM CUZ THERE"S TOO MANY FAT PPL AROUND xD

the fucking state of /biz

You are literally living in one of the most prosperous war-free and peaceful times in all of existence. Anyone who wants to live back then is fucking retarded.

Sounds comfy

Didn’t say they invented it, brainlet.

>You are literally living in one of the most prosperous war-free and peaceful times in all of existence.
Objectively wrong.

They were happier back then because they thought suicide was wrong?

nah, you just threw the "hollywood" buzzword in there without logic. I am surprised you didn't just blame the "librul jews" or "mainstream media"

Your head is chocked full of Jewish programming user

>Do they kill you and your entire family if you won't show up to work?
The fact that you think this is what happened in the middle ages speaks absolute volumes.

>Hollywood didn’t greatly help perpetuate the muh dark ages myth
k

Thanks OP now I want to kill my self even more

Attached: 1ADB0C6A-DBB5-4070-BB26-DA3E09D4B36B.jpg (1280x720, 60K)

I learned about dark ages by reading history, but hey if you need to watch movies to learn something you are a dumbass anyway

Objectively wrong.

Owning a device doesn't mean that your life is better or the world is better. More people per capita have died of violence in the last 100 years then any time in history. We also work more then any society historically. You also can't move freely.

You are just a happy slave.

Warfare is never nice.
Civilian casualties went up in modern times because of more effective weapon systems and increased population. In a 30 years war warring sides have managed to depopulate the entire northern part of Germany with just pikes and swords (+fire and hunger).
They would have killed more - there just weren't that many people left to kill.
Give these fuckers machine guns and B-52s - see how high the kill count goes.

>Especially a soviet conscript in the iron curtain during ww2 shouldn't hate his chances in medieval europe.

are you still living in the USSR in 1940s?
Last time i've checked US casualties in recent wars were minimal and have tendency to decline even further.

>mercury poisoned fish in medieval times
That's a modern issue. Industrialization flooded mercury into the sea. Middle ages had nofactories dumping it into the water.

>learned about the dark ages from books
>still calls them dark ages
>gets this upset
You watch too many movies.

yes brainlet, tell me all about how the dark ages were a myth because you saw that youtube video made from a delusional protestant christcuck

Attached: 323234.png (255x198, 6K)

You're acting like every leader was like that. If every king/leader/feudal Lord was like that we wouldn't even be here today. You bring up very specific examples to counter thousands of years of rule by just kings.

No, they were miserable until they died. Can't commit suicide or you can't go to heaven. It's not a hard concept to grasp. They weren't more or less happy. They just didn't commit suicide.

>hurfdurf Christcuck
Suddenly your impotent rage makes perfect sense.

Care to explain? You up the ass of muh (((Islamic golden age))) instead? Professor shlomo sure did a number on you.

>single country accounting for 4% of world population
Yes you are very enlightened. Good point. The world is better now. Thanks user. I am happy paying my 88% taxes now. Thank god I have a phone, forget that I have to work 85 hours a week.

>muh schlomos
says the guy that worships a literal kike

Attached: King-of-Jews.jpg (380x268, 12K)

Christianity shaped the West, deal with it.

dark ages were the peak of christianity, christianity doesn't exist anymore which is why the West is advanced again and not a shithole like back then

your kike religion is dead and never coming back again, I know you are butthurt about this but you have to deal with it eventually

>not knowing the story behind that picture

You really are a neckbeard or jew lover aren't you? Also you didn't explain.

a group of Israeli archaeologists reconstructed the image of an..Israeli man. Whats wrong with that?

not my fault you worship the King of Israel

Based and redpilled

>mercury pollution isnt a result of modern industry

>Christianity didn’t shape the Renaissance, the Enlightenment age, the Colonial age, the industrial age, the modern west; only muh dark ages
This is how the euphoric cope.

You are dense. Going back to my life with wife and three kids while you rage against the Jewish/frankfurt school construction of neo Christianity that rinos and new age faggots follow.

Greek and Roman science shaped the Renaissance, the enlightenment, the colonial age, the industrial age and the modern west

your kike religion was a plague that delayed all those things

have fun worshiping your Kike Lord while you are larping buddy

Attached: kike.jpg (634x476, 71K)

>said the guy who unironically shills 'le based peasant life in the middle ages'

>More people per capita have died of violence in the last 100 years then any time in history.
>in the last 100 years

Maybe it has something to do with both world wars, deadly modern weapons and increased population?

>We also work more then any society historically.

Who's "we"? WHO'S FUCKING "WE", YOU TRIPLE NIGGER KEK?!
Do you know how long were working hours for factory workers in Victorian England or in first European manifactures? No?
Then shut the fuck up about "any society historically", you don't know the meaning of the words you're typing. Your ignorance is just staggering.
If you're working three mcjobs jobs because you just cannot stop to buy everything your eyes see and you're constantly in debt - don't type "we".

You fucking brainlets actually should get your wish granted one day - when you wake up one morning in 'le based middle ages' and enjoy 'muh wholesome peasant life". See how long it takes before you scream for your mum to get you back.

It's fucking unbelievable. You people bitch and moan every time when your pizza is delivered slightly cold or when amazon delays your shipment, or when the screen on the newest IphoneXX is not fucking bright enough. You don't have a slightest idea how hard peasant life was back then, nor anything about working the soil with primitive tools and dying a slow death from starvation if there has been too much rain or no rain at all this summer.

But okay, you still really want to be 'le wholesome traditional peasants'?

GO ON AND BE PEASANTS THEN

GO AND JOIN FUCKING AMISH COMMUNITY RIGHT FUCKING NOW YOU FAGGETS

GO JOIN THE AMISH OR SHUT THE FUCK UP

Do you know how do I know none of you pampered LARPing fags won't actually do it? Need a hint?

probably because death was all around them. infant mortality rates means most people had AT LEAST one sibling die during childhood and many more would die in young adulthood from war, disease or famine. nowadays, we're so comfortable and safe that the only thing which WILL kill you is yourself

these retards will also say how back then people didn't get cancers, because they were all dying long before cancer had a chance to develop

>Greek and Roman science shaped the Renaissance, the enlightenment, the colonial age, the industrial age and the modern west
Yeah, totally not the Christian religion to which those people strictly adhered lmao.

>Bad things Christianity
>Good things not Christianity
Tipping at the speed of light.

>said the guy who unironically shills 'le based peasant life in the middle ages'
Said the guy who said “your family was murdered if you didn’t show up for work”.

>More people per capita have died of violence in the last 100 years then any time in history. We also work more then any society historically
Sauce?

Well, just after paganism was banned and religious prosecution started, the Roman Empire started its decadence and less than 2 centuries later didn't even exist anymore.

The brief moments in which the ban was lifted and pagans could go back to their temples were prosperous, but unfortunately they didn't last long before the next hippie fanatic emperor banned manly religions again.

>hurr worshiping a kike is what made europe advanced
imagine being THIS dumb. fuck off back to middle east if you want to worship semites bucko

>GO ON AND BE PEASANTS THEN
>GO AND JOIN FUCKING AMISH COMMUNITY RIGHT FUCKING NOW YOU FAGGETS
>GO JOIN THE AMISH OR SHUT THE FUCK UP
Imagine being this upset.

Christianity shaped their lives and their thinking, absolutely.
Religion used to be pretty important, you know.

>muh starving third worlders
i spent significant time living in the third world (have you?) and I know that these poor brown people are a lot happier than the average western wageslave.

Paganism was backwards religion remnant of the past not suitable for the demands of the new era. That’s why it lost to a more advanced monotheistic religion, which just happened to be christianity, deapite all the gov support persecution of christians etc.
