Selling informational material is not always "Scamming" people. Some people sell junk info that doesn't work, some people sell good info. Same with retail - only difference is the junk physically takes up space.

Affiliate marketing. This has been done by many many people.
I watched an interview of a blogger who makes $100k/m via her blog on finance information. She started out just helping out others in the same situation as her (ie. getting out of massive debt) by offering reasonable financial advice, then took a friends suggestion to do affiliate marketing into her blog.
There is another suggestion with affiliate marketing which would make it easier called leveraging. Sell your own product en masse by asking other bloggers with large followings to review your product.
