This is completely pointless when you can already sell to USD.

Only if its on gdax right? If they implemented this on main it means that all the normies that invested who don't know how to read a chart can now sell their bitcoin.

Not entirely. It means someone can sell all his holdings on binance for USDC and then transfer that directly to coinbase, avoiding any fluctuations that may happen during his transaction time.
