It would be so straight forward to just write a front end that mimics Patreon on ETH and EOS right now. All you need is a decent UI and a way to see people posting text and IPFS hashes for video and file sharing.
The hardest part right now is streamlining IPFS node ownership. IPFS nodes mean having to have a way to cover the cost of storing files. Its main advantage is anyone else running a node can potentially pin the file and even if you get pinched the file still exists on the internet in a way nobody can remove it.
EOS can lay the groundwork already for this kind of functionality. But ETH can be fairly effective for this in its current state. Be mindful of stable coins as well as those are a proper store of value if they can maintain their peg. ETH has many stable coins right now.

The greatest use case of crypto is social media. Its undeniable truth that its advantages are too good to not make use of. An ETH / EOS based Patreon utilizing stable coins would be an unstoppable force.
