well i did say how it was an absolute disgrace how this particular college was scamming students off their money by advertizing false employment prospects statistics after graduation, and how many will still remain indebted for life with stagnant wages thanks to the saturation of degree programs in the market. obviously had ZERO proof when i wrote that, but the fact they actually subpoened suggests to me i called their bluff

If you submitted that as part of a 'review' section on a site, I can't see how they could go after you. I'd avoid saying anything to anyone or making statements, find a lawyer or some free legal advice and ask them what they think you should do... but as I understand it, if you were posting a review in a review section, and you believed what you said to be true (hint hint, you should maintain that you believed those things to be true), then there's no way to sue, it was just you expressing a matter of opinion. Even if you said the company are secretly raping kids - it's not 'defamation' unless conscious and deliberate.
