How do they get away with it?

>on-call without pay
>100% commission pay
>70hr a week "full-time" salary positions
>counting tips as part of your wage
>unpaid required studying

I can't imagine being an American. What an awful country. Sure you can brag about your "big" salaries but most Americans make less than 50.000 a year. Jow Forums is obviously filled with those on the higher end so you hear about the 100k salaries more frequently, but it's hardly representative of America at large.

where in the world (other than oil rich gulf countries and euro microstates) do most people make over 50k?

Australia. Average salary is about the equivalent of 50k USD.

China, Japan, Zimbabwe.

it's relative. 50k in America isn't shit

Maybe if you live like a fucking retard and spend every penny you earn. With 50k you could easily work for 20 years and retire comfortably.

wow your're an idiot

America is very big on Social Darwinism. All of the high IQ people find ways around the bullshit system while the low IQ people are just hopeless wagecucks. If you can't figure out how to make it or be happy in America, then you're basically stupid.

Lol.

Canada for real.

>social Darwinism
The phrase you're looking for is "socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor"

you're right.

I work at a bank and make about $110k. it's mind boggling how bad people are with money and how reliant they are on debt. most people use debt to either survive, or fund things they can't afford. I don't know if this is a new phenomenon or if we've always been this fucked.

not everyone wants to live in a trailer in rural tennessee

Yeah but everything is more expensive there than in the US

That would be true if what you said wasn't false and also idiotic

This is really fucked up about the US. Every time I see or hear more about the way Americans use debt it shows me again how fucking absurd this country is.

Glad I'm not American.

Aussi here. This country is a big joke. Zero economy of scale. Population is concentrated about 5 coastal cities with tons of barren desert land asking to be on drip-irrigation. And BTW, if you scan in LinkedIn, job positions of many don’t match with their education and experience. A country that is run by idiots and rampant public-Matocracy should not dare to compare with US, where Maritocracy is somehow lingering on.

Just don’t fucking work there. A couple years ago when I was more naive I almost accepted an upaid CS internship because I didn’t realize how fucking awful that is in our industry. Thank god someone talked me out of it. Instead I kept applying and got a $30/hr gig for the summer. Companies who are run by cheapskate boomers deserve to go under.

It's actually pretty sweet. I have a house and lots of money I got for free. I thitk of it this way. I buy a 2 million dollar house for 200k and 50k in index funds for 30k. Debt being a bad thing or burden is a meme. It's free money just sitting for whoever wants it. I might not take a 30% loan if I'm only making 10% off it, but if it's 1% interest but I'm getting 69% in gains I'll go as far as my line of credit allows.

Its not just the US, its a cultural thing across the whole West.

Fucking Australia has over 200% debt per household now, while we have stagnant wages and a low 5% unemployment rate. Where the fuck is that extra capital going to come from to cover that growing debt? When households are dropping in value as well? Good luck remortgaging when no one is buying and prices drop like rocks.

We are so absolutely fucked.

Holy shit. Thank you. This was the last retarded thing I needed to read today before deciding to go to sleep.
