I'm so glad I made it and I never have to wageslave again. Literally the worst period of my life. This past year since I became independent has been a dream. Now that I have a passive income I literally spend my days learning things and attempting to turn one of my crafts into a small business :^)

If you keep doing this eventually you'll be earning enough dividends that you can quit and then you can just ride the market for the next 30 years making gains along with your passive income. The company does this to save $$$ since nobody really works during that period and productivity is so low, so they make it sound like they're being generous forcing everybody to go on shutdown and burn some of your hard-earned PTO and save on electricity and operational costs.
