>tried to negotiate salary at a job interview recently for a full stack developer role
>anchored high (30% extra to what I was preparer to accept) because thats what all the negotiation and psychology books recommend
>unphazed, interviewer leans forward and says: “i can get 1000 desperate college grads begging to work for free tomorrow. stacy, would you show this gentleman out please”
Tried to negotiate salary at a job interview recently for a full stack developer role
sounds like he would have been a major cunt to work for anyways
I wouldn’t negotiate unless I had other options.
But yeah sounds like you dodged a bullet working with that guy.
he did you a favour...
however, there are employers who want to pay their employees in the same position equally, but then they usually say so and don't be a cunt about it.
>i can get 1000 desperate college grads begging to work for free tomorrow
Shrug
Stand up
Say "good luck dealing with them then"
Smile and go away
In this exact order.
Can these 1000 desperate students deliver a working solution on time and within budget? Who will provide leadership to them? I hope you told him to go for it
Good larp faggot
Employers are desperate to find a full stack developer.
i am kinda a desparate college grad as well with 0 experience but i didn’t want to show it
Were you asked for an intended salary, or did you try to negotiate yourself?
If this actually happened he did you a favour. Could you imagine working for such a asshole?
I had a job where I negotiated a salary far under what I wanted and I was miserable. After my probation I was told I would get a raise.
When I brought it up they acted as I'd they never said such a thing.
Needles to say I fucked around as much as possible till I found a new job. Seriously fuck people like that.
YOUR ID SAYS 8KCT WHICH CAN ONLY MEAN 8K CHRISTMAS TIME.
BE PREPARED FRENS ID NEVER LIES!
interview generally went well but he was about to finish it without bringing up salary. i didn’t mention a ridiculous salary - just the average for entry level devs on sites like glassdoor/payscale
> negotiation and psychology books
True. However you forgot the context. It doesn't apply for commoditised non-management positions such as soft-dev. If you were an MBA with solid experience / sales/marketing-manager with contacts and solid funnel optimisation experience / An executive with management and entrepreneurship experience -- you wouldn't have been treated in a similar way.
Lesson: Negotiate when you are not a commodity.
So it was you who brought it up? You dun goofed son
salary on the job description said “competitive”. what, i was just supposed to accept any salary they’d pay me?
So not a full stack dev? Kys faggot
You should have *asked* about the salary instead of starting to negotiate what you wanted. That part of the onboarding process might have even been in charge of a different person.
I asked him about the salary for the role but he just dodged it and asked me how much I wanted instead
Negotiation is about leverage little buddy. No experience = no leverage = no negotiation.
>trying to negotiate from a position of weakness
u dum dum
trump would be ashamed
Oh, ok, so he brought it up. You did fine then user! Maybe you should have asked for less, I don't know, but you didn't do something completely retarded.
>all these people replying seriously to pasta
>He doesn't enjoy pasta
Oh my god, you must be a Mutt FFS
Your fucked in every way!
What salary did you request? Full stack dev with no experience, I'm guessing he was looking to pay around $60k/yr
The fuck is full stack
Stack of Jewish dicks to suck
