So crypto has been around for 10 years now. But what's it really used for today?

chinese hegemony

Siphoning money from gullible fools hoping to make it rich without putting in the effort

I use it everyday to keep my wealth in it as opposed to inflationary FIAT that is a guaranteed loss

you have to laugh at the people that thought they were getting in early when bitcoin was 9-10 years old.

Bitcoin doesn't really have any real application today.. If you buy in now, you are buying in at a time where the potential utility of Bitcoin & co. is only speculative. Furthermore you will buy in at a time, where most mainstream economist believe it to be nothing more than a bubble without any real value behind it.

yes, only speculative, but speculation is where the value comes from in all forms of money. 1 million dollar bitcoin today would be a 250x increase from 4k, but thats only equivalent to people that got in for just under $100 and sold the top at 20k.

the big money has been made in crypto already, just from a mathematical standpoint.

To hire hitmen to kill faggots like you

wtf are you talking about? if you bought ETH 2 years ago, and sold in January, you would have x100.
Secondly, barely anyone hodl for 10 years, most people that bought very low, also sold very low (in the grand scheme of things). The only ones that didn't sell off most of their cryptos, are ideologs like Roger.

There is a survey from world economics forum (or something like this) where they surveyed a bunch of high-tier people in Academia and Business.
One of the questions they were given was, "do you think 10% of global wealth will be in the form of blockchain, and if so, what year" (they also explicitly named smartcontract.com in that survey).
The majority believed it would come into fruition, and said it would be around 2025.

It has no value outside the darknet markets and it is a bubble.
You faggot

Crypto is a unregulated, low cap market. Anyone can list something on it. People will keep falling for it, and plebs will keep buying high, then panic selling low, only to buy back in higher, on repeat. The whales don't mind waiting a few years as the price plummets, because the gains when they start pumping again are astronomical. This is the era of bots and HFT.

Anyone who thinks crypto won't golden bull again is a fool. Anyone who thinks we won't have another long period of downward bleed is also a fool. The whales need time to accumulate and without their pumping, we aren't going anywhere. Scale in under $3k and hold for the long term, then sell everything on the next massive bubble pump.

its not about holding for a decade or getting in at the lowest point in the bear market, its the fact that people still think they're going to become millionaires with a couple of thousand to invest without having to do anything.

lots of people think lots of things, if youre happy holding into bitcoin and ethereum for a few years to see what happens, sure, but late adopters undoubtedly decide that bitcoin is dead (because they missed it) and throw their money away gambling in random alts.

Imagine if we stopped figuring out things to do with the internet in 2005.

>comparing internet in 2005 to a joke state of crypto today
And you know, internet is really a unique and versatile tool. Crypto is just meh.

It's useful for ripping off NEETs

It's also a great tool for transfering large sums of money.
