/tg/ Financeanon here, you probably know me if you are interested in mtg investing.
It's not a bad time to pick few RL staples but i believe the market will continue to cool off for at least 4-5 more months. So don't be in a hurry, you still have time and you will get better deal by then.
What are your targets? I'll tell you if it's a good idea or not card by card.
black lotus
you should wait like a year and pick up some unlimited duals. Should be a nice flip over the next few years unless some reserved list fuckery comes around.
as time goes on its only gotten easier and easier to fake these pieces of paper.
unironically if mtg scrapped their dead wood editions and released cards on bitcoin/ethereum to integrate in one of their games those things actually would make some people very rich
Wouldn't it be insane if they decided to reprint black lotus?
I'd sue Wizards
How would that workout?
Because they'd be infringing on my value
Aren't they doing that all the time when they reprint cards?
>About three days after user's lawsuit is filed, I'd expect something like the following:
Defendants motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim is granted. All counts in plaintiff's Complaint are hereby dismissed with prejudice. Plaintiff is ordered to pay defendant a reasonable attorney fee for bringing a frivolous claim. Costs are taxed to the plaintiff.
Yeh was thinking the same thing lol.
>what is promissory estoppel
I don't care the worth, all cards I get go directly into the trash.
so do people still use black lotus in games or do these cards sit in blisters forever?
just buy chinese knockoffs and sell them to local shops
Tay says: *these* are the kinds of people that you are relying on to buy off you in the future...

Magic is a false economy, with values that are artificially high because of speculation. But, there's no actual market for this stuff. It's a niche game in the scheme of things, and collectors are a niche within that niche.
that wouldn't hold, see penton & jackson 1978.
also you would have permissioned justice claims up the wazoo... so good luck.
not a good idea. MTG trting to force it's new online game, where you can't trade cards, because over the long term having no second card market is more profitable for them.
Sure physical cards may still hold some value, but don't expect mtg to keep their main focus on there.
Got any online suggestions?
