OP should start by taking some walks (probably can't run) and salads for a few weeks, lift some dumbbells or do some bodyweight exercises at home, THEN go to the gym.

We don't you try this intermittent fasting diet, OP. Jut eat one or two meals a day, but eat till you're full. This has helped me loose 50 pounds.

Also, maybe consider looking at investments that preserve their value better if you get this upset about failing to time the market, like defensive/non-cyclical stocks or bonds.

yeah, I started off with the stationary bike. It was tough, but after a year and a half I started to actually like it. It helps if you have a buddy to go to the gym with. I used to have a cholesterol problem, but not any more, that's why I think it's crucial.
