I would try finding a full time job BEFORE you move out. Don't touch your savings. Get a credit card, work for 2 years or so. By the time you're 25 you can use your 50k for a down payment. I'd tell you to buy a house as soon as you get a full time job but that's not how banks work.

50k should be more than enough for a down payment on a first house, you shouldn't be looking at million dollar houses for your first home
Hell, that would be enough for a 5% down payment (what you need here for your first house, don't know if it's the same in the US, I'm Canadian) and renovations if you get a house that needs some work. That way you can at least get a bit of a return on your investment sooner rather than 20 years from now
