Minimal lifestyle

Is this an effective strategy to building capital?

I'm doing winter cleaning, and I plan to throw away 90% of my stuff. I'm hoping it creates a meta for me to better focus on my projects.

I hope to cut spending and create a clear mindset.

Yes. Although, I only use my apartment for sleeping and eating. Study at the library, since there is even less clutter.

That sounds comfy, as I post I'm going through clothing, what do you recommend for quantity of cloths?

I work in finance so I only have suits/shirts/ties. I would focus on quality of fabrics though, you don't want your clothing falling apart easily. Fit is the most important factor though. The clothing brand doesn't matter if you look like a clown in it.

>Throws away 90%
>Holds onto that dial phone

Ooookay user w/e you say

how I live. its been great so far.

Cell phones are not minimal, they are cluttered with apps and botnet. Flipphone in pocket and a home phone is all you need.

>minimal
>huge loft apartment
>dozens of books scattered across the table

Why not downsize and buy a kindle if you are genuinely minimalist and not just some tedious aesthete?

Unironically thing this is a great idea and I'm trying to do the same, user.
My biggest issues:

1) I have lots of papers, many of them handwritten notes I have made over the years. Don't want to just throw them out (maybe that is dumb of me but it's where I am) so focused on reviewing them and moving good ideas into evernote. Trying to work on this every day but it's a struggle.
2) I have lots of books. I'm old enough to remember the days pre-amazon -- whenever I was on vacation or saw a book in used bookstore that looked interesting, I would just buy it, because you didn't know when you might run across the book again. I now have about 1000 books in my apartment. Trying to work on whittling them down.
3) For those working on this, I recommend Mari Kondo book "the lifechanging magic of tidying up" -- sounds really dorky but it really helped me deal with the emotions around hanging on to things. Example -- you have a shirt that brings back great memories of when you were on a trip or whatever but it doesn't fit and falling apart and just taking up space. She recommends that you actually go through kind of a ceremony where you THANK the shirt and say good bye to it and then you can throw it in the trash. Sounds SUPER hokey maybe but I tried it and it actually works. She has a show on netflix now where she goes around to people's houses in LA and helps them clean stuff up.

Good luck user! I widdled down my book collection a month ago, only 50 or so books but that's a lot of space. I donated the majority of them to the library. Kept important books like Huxley's Island and programming books.

Your book recommendation sounds to be in my interest I'll read it! Thanks.

You could easily just buy a scanner to scan all your notes and not have to worry about it.

Books are easy, too. Just get an ebook reader. You can find every single book you own on library genesis in whatever format you desire. Of course I don't think there is anything wrong with having a large bookshelf if you genuinely enjoy the tactile feel of turning pages, etc vs the sterility of a kindle.

woah woah woah, two phones user?

i-isn't that overdoing your simplistic lifestyle a bit?

Can't you just pick one?

Also do you really need a clock on the wall AND a laptop AND a phone to tell the time?

I mean if the sun's up it's day time. If not well...

This simplistic lifestyle is getting a bit overcomplicated..

>not living in your van
>not powering everything off solar
>not having a fireplace for when its cold outside
>wasting money on rent

youll never make it OP.

Perhaps, but I don't want work calling me on a personal number. Lines can be drawn.

Just actually think it through what you're going to throw out. I have a friend who did what you're planning to do, and a few months later he realized he actually needed some of that shit he threw out, so eventually he just bought a bunch of stuff again. Maybe you just need better storage.

Ultra minimalist checking in. Feels amazing man.

This.

>t. keyboard covered in jizz and Cheetos
Kys faggot.

/comfy/

I am getting rid of crap I don't need, but no way I'm throwing away my books, manuscripts or music gear and instruments.

Im interested in this, but where the fuck do you park at night?

You just wanna be a pretentious beta, smart phones are the most cost saving thing on earth.

parking lots, side of the street where people usually park

What your phone can do my laptop can do better. Phones are mental distractions, too good at multitasking anywhere imo and people get wrapped up into their phones during conversations.

I don't need it. Those things track you wherever you go too, kinda creepy.

Best build is Sprinter with foldup matress retractable to wall on one side and foldup desk on the other side.

You can stand, have plenty of floorspace, and its not particularly expensive to set up. You easily fit your clothes near the front.

this would be the best if it wasn't for shower and toilet
I cannot imagine living without those

This pic has way more stuff than I do lol

walmart,

Then you are already living the minimal lifestyle user!

sprinter is expensive to buy and maintain

Donate them

honestly not a big deal. just get a gym pass, it's a good excuse to stay in shape. there's lots of work arounds though, like composting toilet and solar shower, i've even seen rigs with small water heaters, though obviously that all requires a larger rig. i lived in a van like that for a year or so, honestly miss those days a lot desu. it had its drawbacks but the financials behind it were awesome

Extremely based lifestyle, user.

Is that your van?

Yeh, 10k for the whole thing, including the vehicle

Legit, I struggle with this as well but recently got rid of a few bin-bags of clothes, including some very old "nostalgic" clothes I will NEVER wear again.

I still have an entire house full of junk, and several large outbuildings full of tools, materials, outdoor gear, etc.

it is not good for our heads.

I am sure I sleep much better with an empty bedroom

You posted vids on YouTube right? Saw it before. Looks awesome man good work.

based af

I need to do that but I like my books and keeping old copies of books is worth it IMO certain (((people))) like to change wordings and meanings often.

vibe down 96% from ath. they are releasing an FPS next week. Not many people know about it yet. Game looks amazing. Get in quick

>Notes
Take photos and import to Evernote so you can search them via OCR.
>Books
Download the book files and keep them. You’ll be amazed at how little you need to access them. Now think about all the space analog books are taking up, not to mention they are visual noise/clutter that aesthetically looks like shit. OP pic related.

so come at me bro my comma button sticks and i don't even fucken know why how bout i shove your tongue in its socket after we pop it out your your rock hard micropenis and you tell me what it is?

What about when you are sick and have stomach bug or something? Do you just have some buckets or do you lie on the bathroom floor of a planet fitness until it's over with?

The books ruin the room. A bookshelf is not that cumbersome, nigga.

>not stacking books on the floor.
