frankly, I intuitively understood that BTC and ETH were the only projects with actual social support, and I was deluded into believing OMG was the alt that would have the utility to become #3.

OMg only benefits ETH, why would you think it was going to be the #3 crypto? That was bad judgement on you. The project is actually decent and active. I recently bought a small stack back in at $1.50 since shit, its only $1.50 a piece.
Yes it benefits ETH, but it also benefits itself. why wouldn't it? The theory behind OMG is that tokenholders get the fees of the transactions processed over the network. so buying OMG was supposed to be buying a companion to ETH before people even knew about it.

In my humble opinion, the only things that are worth anything are BTC, XRP, XMR and maybe LTC for technical reasons. Litecoin is very underrated, it functions much better than Bitcoin does. We all know that in 2 years basically all alts won't be traded anymore. 4-5 years of scamming people with elaborate vapourware will come to end after mainstream actual adoption of crypto.
