Definitely do-able but not in the way you think.
Get good at drawing anime/hentai/cartoon porn. Like, really good. Practice in drawfag threads all over Jow Forums and get feedback.
Then decide your field. Either go furry, pony or throw a dart at any random fetish on /d/ or thread on /co/. The more obscure the fetish is the better, because less competition.
Make a patron and a deviantart. Leave devart and move to your own website once you have a good fanbase.
This is how you get rich from art, like the furry artist that makes $27k/month from patreon. He only draws one or two commissions every six months at this point. People throw money at him hoping he'll draw their request next.

some, yes. not all but if you're halfway decent at drawing art for an obsure fetish that has almost no new OC drawn for it you could be looking at a couple thousand a month depending how many commissions you do.
like other guy said though, helps if you were to draw shit for a fetish that you like.
