I've done basic research on ways that I could legally move to and live in the US. So far it seemed the only way I could achieve this was the visa lottery...which I have a 1/100 chance of winning in my country

Why do people like to believe that the H-1B visa or green cards are just given away for free to people outside the US asking for one?

Honestly, as a legal immigrant on an H1B visa, this is incredibly encouraging to see.

As someone who has completed both an undergraduate and masters program in the US, and spent a good chunk of my life on improving my education and hirability to be given a shot at working in the US, it brings so much pain to my heart seeing uneducated mexicans come into the country permanently as "refugees". This goes on while actually useful skilled immigrants who love the US are forced to take the back seat, and have to hope for their visa to be extended.

Hopefully these changes of his can actually pass congress, but we all know it's not that likely.
