I was never very good at programming but tried to learn. Then I realized people were creating "Coding Bootcamps" for losers like me. If any loser could become a coder, I realized this isn't the field to go into. Now I work tech support reviewing other shitty developers' code when the application breaks. Out of the 10 developers working there, 1 is a genius / god level developer and the rest write code that looks like they came out of a "Coding Bootcamp". God help this world.

Went to one of these summer of 2014. At the time I'd been full blown NEET for nearly 3 years. living off severance and savings. shit was starting to get real sketchy. money almost gone. gf was about to leave. life was looking bad.

bought macbook on credit card. worked out tuition loan. devoted life to this for 12 weeks.

graduated. had startup-owning friend help me concoct some "work history" to cover my NEET period. started interviewing. sucked in my first 3 or 4 interviews - then started to figure it out. got some shit $/hr offers and short-term contracting... kept interviewing finally got $60k/year offer. doesn't sound like a lot - but suddenly i'm no longer freeloading off gf. between us we were making almost $200k (decent income for where we live). can't explain how the change in life felt.

so, a little over 4 years later and one job change, just got raise to $138k. life was on the brink of suck and now it's pretty damn good.
