GRIN

Is this the most successful launch of a coin since the bull run? Hashrate is crazy high already and you can't even spend any coins yet.

Maybe. But there's too much hype.

Basically zero normie hype yet from what I've seen. Everyone in the Grin telegram channel either works in the industry or is an actual crypto sperg. I also pay zero attention to leddit so maybe I'm wrong.

Reporting back after a quick glance at r/cc. Nothing when I ctrl+F'd for "Grin" on the front page. So I'm going to say that the masses are by and large still clueless.

Normies don't care about the entire market I'm just more surprised by the sheer amount of hash people are directing at a coin that projects to not be worth all that much initially due to it's linear 60 GRIN/block reward system. Doesn't seem like it'll be all that profitable in the short term which is why I find it interesting how many GPU miners are pointing devices at it right now.

>There is (by our conservative estimates) 100 million dollars of mostly VC money invested into special-purpose investment vehicles to mine Grin.

>infinite supply

is grin's block reward still consistent and total coins unlimited?
also what mining algo did they choose?

Eternally 1 Grin per second. No halving.

Speculation and a positive feedback loop I'm guessing. This has been anticipated for a while now. Everyone wants to accumulate to dump on normies, and for all we know difficulty might only go up from here. Now that I think about it I might try to get me some when coins get unlocked.

Cuckoo Cycle.

Source on this?

thanks, I'm still interested in this concept but I don't think I'll buy any
maybe mine a couple for fun

That would be pretty crazy, source?

It's not a bad idea for a currency that you would want to actually spend but it's awful if you're looking for ROI from buying the coin unless there's crazy high demand from the get go. There's a decent medium post I read that explains why it isn't a bad thing long term I'll see if I can find it

Yup. They're using Cuckoo Cycles, most people are on Cuckatoo29 since the other algos they support require super high memory that most GPUs don't have.

But there are no normies ready to buy which is the part I don't get. I plan on buying a bag but I'm gonna wait a few months first to see what happens before jumping in, my guess is that it'll dump and try to find a bottom.

I just looked this up it looks like a monero clone with harry potter names what a joke

Just take a look at the charts at the bottom of the article

It is actually less secure and doesnt scale much, but this is crypto, so leave the common sense at the door

That's not for brainlets like you. Go buy some useless ERC20 token with a shiny nice looking whitepaper.

I agree OP but why the fuck are you hyping this before you even got a bag? Shut the fuck up and let me accumulate. FUD it if you can.

Mo-ero bagholder detected. You know that half the Mo-ero hash rate is going to grin and not looking back. Join us or leave and take your fud with you.

This coin is not for the poor since you need at least an 8 GB GPU to mine it

Actually the CryptoNote protocol privacy is stronger than Grin's one. But regarding the scalability part, MimbleWimble is far more scalable.

The tokenomics of the coin are more than enough for the coin to have a serious decline in value in the short term lol. It's the main reason why I made this thread, I don't get why there are so many people mining this already when the price is going to drop hard once it hits the open market and the supply starts to completely overwhelm the initial demand.

It's overshadowed by the cryptopia and eth fork news but that doesn't mean it wasn't hyped.

There are 11 threads mentioning "grin" in the past month. That's one shill post every 3 days for a coin that didn't even exist at the time.

Hmmm, there are even ones downvoted.
LMAO, r/CryptoCurrency is worse than biz
Redditors are complete imbeciles and shitty token appreciators.

Maybe they are doing it out of the kindness of their heart? They care about tech and this will be the next big privacy coin!

Or it's going to be like zcash.

The "beam" shitcoin is clearly a scam and has a founder's reward like zcash.

This doesn't mean grin can't dump like zcash just because it's less of a scam.

Grin is a good coin because the fixed reward limits inflation. I wish I had an 8GB video card so I could mine it.

r/cc is the absolute worst, it's a place for cryptocurrency "discussion" but if it's a coin or topic the hivemind of cc or if it's something the mods don't like then good luck.

At least here if someone shills something you'll get called a faggot or a pajeet but you can actually discuss the coin if anyone wants to.

I think most of us are excited in a bear market.

Oh that is a good source. fucking based. I have an invite to that site lying in my inbox but haven't hopped on yet.

DAILY REMINDER THAT GRIN IS AN ANTI WHITE COIN!

Not surprising. This is a heavily Silicon Valley VC-backed project.
