The recent Gillette ad has triggered people, but rather than letting neckbeards and actually SJW retards derail, let's get down to the real question:
Does pandering to retarded SJW generate revenue and/or boost stock value?
SJW marketing (capitalists only ITT)
Is this going to be the catalog filler of the week?
It was the beginning of first quarter of the fiscal year for Starbucks. Coming off a Q4 which saw them struggling to imrpove compared to the previous year, they really needed a gimmick to get the number up.
Enter #RaceTogether. They would ride the momentum of the SJW movement and try to pivot that into revenue. Or so they thought.
Q1 of the 2016 fiscal year saw Starbucks taking a huge hit in net earnings over the previous. That's with a slightly greater operating income and lower total operating expenses. Their net earnings dropped significantly from 20.5% to 12.8%.
Conclusion: In addition to being socially unpopular, as measured by social media feedback and overall negative sentiment reported in the media, the #RaceTogether campaign appears to have had a negative impact on their revenue. At the very least, it is safe to say that it wasn't enough to help the company sustain their previous rate of growth, let alone improve upon it.
Probably not. There is only one other thread and it is full of spergs who are more concerned with arguing over pleb ideologies than making money. You'll probably see more about it Gillette specifically at Jow Forums. This thread is not about Gillette. It just happens to be a relevant ad campaign in a string of attempts made by companies to advertise to retarded SJWs. But are they finding any success?
bump
look at nike stock after the kapernick ads in sept 2018
Its impossible to really know considering that the stock market is in full scale crash mode and we are probably going to print more money to try and keep it from dumping too hard.
lots of people aren't on youtube. they don't read the comments, they aren't into any social discussion, any "shitstorm". they just click on shit videos to pass time on a trainride. so they see suddenly a video with bazillion of views, realize the brand, thats it.
they needed a push and used the antagonized forever triggered bottom dwellers to push the video with their seething. thats all.
one ad doesn't push stock value or does anything. even with modern technology you are 50:50 on the success of any ad. it might work it might not. you don't know if the coupon for Gilette that came out by some big chain is the reason for the uptick or not.
Most normies don't really mind stuff so if they bought Gillette previously they will most likely keep buying Gillette, if they didn't they won't start buying it because of that ad. A couple of "working class" men might have heard about the ad and stopped buying it. A couple of SJW might have gone out and bought a couple to prove a point and certainly "more than averagely" conservative to right-wing might have stopped buying it entirely.
All and all they might lose a small number of non-radicalized long-term consumers and gain a couple of radicalized short-term consumers.
It is becoming more and more risky because younger people are extremely radicalized politically.
So all and all a very bad strategy.
Gillette commercial about some chad in a sports car climbing mountains ends with "Gillette the best a man can get" (or whatever their slogan is) would have been much better.
I know this is a circlejerk thread but I'll provide a serious answer anyway. Society as a whole embraces the values Gillette purported to support in its ad. What you're really asking is why companies aren't pandering to far-rights pearl-clutchers and the answer is that you're an insignificant minority. It's much safer for Gillette to say something most people agree with and only marginally increase its sales than bet on far-right resurgence and go full 14/88 hoping to acquire passionate skinhead brand loyalty at the expense of potentially alienating everyone else.
Are you fucking retarded?
Was a post of this quality really worth the effort typing out?
Yes, because it succinctly states my objection to your post about confusing people being a bit mad about a company that wanted to pass out moral judgements in a very overblown way to males (almost half the population) to literal fucking white supremacists.
So please see again.
>It's much safer for Gillette to say something most people agree with
The video has insane amounts of downvotes so unless you are prepared to couple this argument with a
> Alt right people are more likely to click downvote
style argument then you are clearly wrong. The numbers don't lie.
Very accurate.
This is all literally a False flag to get people to short Dow stocks. Dont fall for it
Lemme guess, Trump won because of Russian hackers.
as unsuccessful as people claim this campaign was, i'm sure hearing 'Gillette' mentioned a fuck of a lot more than i ever did in my life
> bet on far-right resurgence and go full 14/88 hoping to acquire passionate skinhead brand loyalty at the expense of potentially alienating everyone else.
Doom Eternal is critically acclaimed for its jokes about not offending moral challenged immigrants from hell. So I guess we can look at the sales of Doom Eternal vs the sales of Wolfenstein to really get an idea.
I am actually leaning pretty heavily in the fact that "trolling libtards" is basically free money because its Youtubers who do this tend to gain popularity very quickly. If a girl comes out and denounces feminism its usually a very fast boost in popularity. Most people absolutely fucking hate millennials. How many genders there are and how they tend to act offended if you assume they are not kitsune buttkin embies.
If Gillette came out and made fun of millennials it would have been an instant hit.
Stop same fagging you fuck face.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAD PUBLICITY
People who want to virtue-signal on either side have been sharing this around the internet, and the name 'Gillette' is on everyone's lips.
The whole thing is a social engineering stunt to catapult them to the front of people's minds, including this thread so sage
this is a good question and we should shun people who try to derail
I think it's likely difficult to measure how well any ad performs in terms of stock price. you can correct for movements in the Dow but it seems unlikely to me that an individual campaign can move the needle over the long term
Marketer fags correct me if I'm wrong
I think the point is creating long term brand feelings. Gillette is old enough and big enough that this puts a tiny dent in that. Are they going to keep doing this to permanently reorient the brand? unlikely. So we can write it off as a stunt. Which means that it likely is a cynical controversy generator and nothing more
Goyim cattle leftists have always been the useful idiots of the parasitic capital, divide and conquer, consumerism leading to individualism, leading to solitude, depression, alienation, broken family units, leading to mindless cattle purchasing shit they don't need, feminism and immigration have always been tools of the merchants as well as a weapon of control to herd the cattle and establish the greater Israel until the messiah comes back, Americans are the goodest goyim, just use a safety razor retards
I'm pretty sure Ghostbusters (2016) would have flopped without this kind of marketing.
There are wins and losses in both camps. Though I think its a risky move only pulled when market-share is already dropping or in free-fall. Its an attempt to rebrand and substitute audience. I think as this is used more and more often, people are getting more sensitive to it which accentuates the result be it negative or positive.
Losers: NFL, Sony Pictures, Electronic Arts, Starbucks, Disney Star Wars
Winners: Chick-Fil-a
I think if you want a broader sample size start looking at individuals brands and adjust for other controversies ect. I think you'll still see a downward trend there when compared to those that avoid taking political sides.
You have it backwards - non-radicalized consumers either wont care, or find this ad heartwarming/uplifting (including majority of women). SJW will also be won over. The only downside are a small sliver of right-wing men (not just conservatives).
These are moral judgements that, like that user said, are widely embraced by society already (and have been for decades).
