Not if you're smart. Are you smart or stoopid?
yeah
Explain pls
If you're able to spot opportunities and build products to capitalize on them, its worth it. If you just want to wage it, 90% of engineering and software companies underpay their employees for the type of work they do. I'm not saying there aren't people who coast by working on some support application, but vast majority of people work too hard for the money.
>paying for knowledge in the information age
you're a meme
I thought people in tech made 150k MINIMUM after five years
If you're not interested in it and you're just some dumb chad/wannabe chad neurotypical normalfag going into it, then yeah, it's a meme and you're going to hate yourself and wished you chose a job with more socialization/not staring at a screen. you will likely complain on Jow Forums about how soul-crushing your job is and start tedposting
for autists and incels though it's great, you get to do what you enjoy and make a fuckton of money doing it
They do. They also pay $3500/month for a place to live in places where they get $150k/year
yea.. the real career opportunities lies in liberal arts degrees.
also, judging by the picture you posted you are likely in the first category so i'd advise you to stay far away from CS, you likely won't make it
So you still have $60k a year left over after taxes and living expenses.
You still need your good goy piece of paper to get a job. I taught myself how to program but I still got my degree
bs and ms in cs here unemployed. university is a meme. if i invested that money in bitcoin id be a billionaire
Yeah, thats around your real wage, if you're doing 40h/week which is pretty rare in software, but more normal in engineering.
No, your real wage is $150k a year.
Sorry I meant to type profit. Think of yourself as a business. The revenue is $150k/year. The profit is ~$60k/year
Which is still higher than pretty much anything else.
Depends what your work looks like. If you have a chill boss, and a decent PM, 40 hour work weeks it can be great. If you have a carrot and stick boss, PM who can't plan for shit and are doing 50-60h workweeks, and can't get work out of your mind at home, its shit. Been there done that.
Before taxes, goy.
No, after taxes.
Why does everyone on Jow Forums like to argue so much? holy shit you can get whatever job you want then who cares? Its the #1 job you can get and you'll make enough for student loan payments and food/rent OP fuck, how can you possibly not get a good job or make your own app and make a million dollars just do it if you want and listen to this guy
Imagine she asked you to tiddy fuck her haha and cumming between her boonbs haha
I am a software engineer AMA.
Is it a meme?
Consider this point. Also, engineering no. CS maybe? Make sure you understand physics
You have to be dedicated to it. It's not like anyone can just study it and become proficient. Even many people who finish a CS degree can't get a job, many will also take software jobs that don't involve coding. If you can code well, the world is your oyster. There are shitty companies but you just leave them because you have so many options. If you work for a shitty company then you're garbage. Oh also you can't be too autistic or you'll be stuck in a shit job too.
How do you get out of the latter without quitting?
>how do i leave a job without quitting
???
try and get fired i guess?
Wasn't talking to the over payed brainlet software engineer, now fuck off
what are you expecting fag? you can try to switch departments if the company is big enough. otherwise you have to quit. just interview and get another job first. it's no big deal. job hop until you find a company you like.
Literally this. You don't need a degree to get a good job
Instead of getting a degree, I paid $100 to get an AWS certification and was able to get a job with no problem at all
How long to get cert and starting salary?
You can study fairly hard and get certified in a month, but you also need to learn and know all of the other things that'll make you a successful developer
Not a meme. Just a bubble.
Yes.
t compsci graduate, not undergraduate, graduate.
no, it's the only way to hit 6-figures by 30
but you're a thot poster so you'll fail
>Actually believing this
Having average IQ and coping. You don’t have the intelligence to do stem that’s ok
Dunning-Kruger alert! Lern 2 reading comprehension.
You’re probably not cut out for it user. How could you get into grad school for CS but not land a job
Whatever helps you cope user
Just close the tab, user. You lack middle school reading comprehension. Do you want me to dumb it down?
>it is the only way to make 6 figures by 30
This man is saying that entering STEM is the only way to have a six figure (this means $100,000or more) salary (how much money you get paid a year) by the time someone turns 30 years old. I was saying it is silly to believe this is the only way to make this amount of money. Do you understand better?
Regurgitating the same shit you read on Jow Forums to help you cope with you average IQ
I think with Comp Sci, development, etc., you better a) be really good at it and b) love doing it. If you don't meet either a or b, you're not going to get the best opportunities. That's been my experience. I was never really good at development and didn't really like doing it. Plus now you're getting a low of the sjw shit in development which is kind of irritating. Also, I think there's a lot of ageism in programming. Yes there are many exceptions I'm sure but seems like its more difficult to get a development job past a certain age if you're not that good.
Why are you still trying, user? This is Jow Forums. We have all said stupid things here before. Just move on to the next thread.
Exaggeration. Places where you pay $3500 in rent (Silicon Valley) you should be making 200k total comp MINIMUM. More like 250-300 if you’re good and have a few years experience.
I live in an area where you make 150k easily after 5 years (again, if you’re good) and the rent for a place to yourself is ~1500, or if you’re a normalfag who likes roommates, 700-1000.
everything is a meme
I have a MS in comp sci and have been unemployed the past 6 months
Getting a job in the field is hard, but once you have it you have way more possibilities than the avg wagie
Her boobs look to small for tiddy fucking. Looks like she's using a pushup bra
Imagine she asked you to tiddy fuck her haha and cumming between her boonbs haha
haha yeah haha

Been thinking about switching from an accounting career to coding (Java).
Yeah ive been at it for half a year after graduating and I only make 33.5k
How much REQ for her?
dont be dense
if you don't know how to program, it will be way too much work to learn java. you are too far behind. Indians stream in and coding shops are outsourced. At my co, 90% of the programmers are indian contractors... do they know anything? barely. they are faking it til they make it. this leads to a pretty shitty work environment.
learn python if youre set on this path. way easier and better for data analytics anyway. you are better off taking that route (way more enjoyable + higher paying + cant outsource insights to grunt pajeets)
Any online courses you recommend?
.
Anything in the oil field engineering or geoscience is 130k starting and pretty easy tbqh.
Financially, probably. But consider the alternative, forsaking all science and technology in favor of paper ribbons. I consider it horrifying. Don't you?
What’s the best online resource for learning python? I’m in information systems and wanna improve my skills. Thanks anons.
Is an MBA in Business Admin worth pursuing? 29 year old boomer here with a boring job and going nowhere fast. I hold a lot of LINK and have faith in it but I need a plan B if things don't work out. I only make around $40k a year now.
If you dont like pgoramming then forget it, you can only become good and have a good career if you love programming. All good programmers have started it as a hobby, not something thye go school for to get a code monkey job, thse people are hopeless. Engineering degrees in general have highest drop out rates of all almost 30% drop out (in debt, in usa) cause they think thye will find employment and solid salary in stem, but they dont like tech nor they are good at math thus it is hopeless
Just start building stuff out and google every question you get. There is no better way to learn it. Slowly you’ll get a hang of tricks in python and the one line syntax style, which sometimes can be a little cancer.
For example, I bet you have a need for indexing something/automating services on one of your systems. Try building out a script for capturing file data/ starting a service. As you realize your needs, the complexity of your app will increase and you’ll learn more.
I’m assuming you know basic programming like scripting in powershell or something like that. If not, just look for “best python exercises” and don’t do beyond like 10, you’ll understand the way the language is written after that.
>130k
And you are out of a job whenever oil prices tank
All careers are a meme financed by the federal reserve creation of artificial bubbles.
>muh be a programmer
Backed by SV, and the likes, getting cheap loans on interest rates that dilute the fiats purchasing power.
>muh go into construction
Financed by the construction industry that get welfare checks from the banks to build elaborate spaces where fewer people can afford to rent or live
>muh take the service pill
Backed by normies slave system credit card debt, that the majority overspend just to feel normie and sane
>muh get into finance
Play the elaborate Ponzi scheme Thats running on fumes and can crash the entire world economy, since those at the top like Jamie Dimon already made the substantive steal and now you’re just fighting for scratch.
>Muh go into law
Oversaturated market that is built off a system of debt slavery.
>muh go into medicine
Backed by nation of health care industry that overprice its patients but can’t deliver better quality.
>muh be a neet and collect neet bucks

This week I did automatetheboringstuff.com
After doing an intro to python on codeacademy. Would really recommend the former. Am a programming noon but in two weeks I've gotten the hang of it.
