This is how I have always thought of it. We should embrace capitalism now so that we can accelerate our technology to a point where we don't have to do anything then we can just relax in a socialist society where it is ok to do nothing all day.

I understand your thinking but it’s wrong. Capitalism is what will create automation as capitalism is a system that considers humanity nothing more than a worker and consumer. If you take the wages away from the worker, then you save money, how they get money is moot.

Socialism pretends to care about humanity and it’s endeavors and struggles but it’s really only a ploy to make selected elites even richer while weakening the entire nation.

What you're describing isn't socialism. When we do reach the point where AI/automation can do nearly any job, then capitalism will be obsolete. The people will need to own the means of production.

Most compensation is in the form of wage labor simply because money is easily exchangeable. Whether compensation is in the form of money or goods is irrelevant. If automation and AI replace practically every job, then capitalism as we know it will be largely obsolete, unless we'd have a social democracy. But I think at that stage, there would be so much social unrest that we'd lean toward socialism.
