Is it worth getting a hardware wallet? If so, which ones do you guys use?
I've been looking at the new Ledger Nano X and it looks pretty neat. I want something that can hold erc20 alts and the blue chips like BTC and XMR. But, i'm not too well versed in hardware wallets and, admittedly, Ledger's website was plastered all over google searches, so I'm open to suggestions.
Also, what do you guys do for physical security? Stuff it in a box under the bed? Multiple hardware wallets? Bank vault?
No, I have all of my 100k links on binance, I believe in their security and honesty.
Joshua Carter
Get the Skycoin one, it's like 30 bucks and better build quality.
Kayden Reed
>I've been looking at the new Ledger Nano X and it looks pretty neat The Skywallet is better quality and cheaper, and $SKY is the only thing worth holding anyway. Everything else is vaporware.
Not a fan of SKY personally. Does the wallet only hold SKY or does it support others?
Chase Martin
I keep my entire stack on Cryptopia. I haven't checked it in a while though, might go look.
Angel Morgan
Get the nano X if you are mostly on mobile. Nano S has less space since new software update
Matthew Price
Nano is fine if you only want to hold 1 or 2 assets. Mine is exclusively for BTC and LINK
Ryan Brooks
I don't need to rely on mobile mostly, just want somewhere safe to store muh coins. Is there a better/reasonably priced wallet for the "under the bed" kind of wallet use?
I intend on holding 7-10 assets on the wallet I end up purchasing
Camden Cooper
Sky is an absolute scam. I’d really be careful.
Caleb Davis
How about using a Personal computer

>blue chips

OP i have the trezor & ledger, get the Trezor, its open source & out for years. I have ordered the nano X BUT I am not using it as my primary. Wait till people can try to hack it. Its probably going to be fine, but why risk it. Also no matter what you need a 'vault' the old ones are perfect for that!
Ledger is great for shitcoins though...
I store my seed on a Stainless steel plate in a fire proof safe...
Caleb Ramirez
>I believe in their security and honesty. They are rated the 34rd securest exchange btw... >MUH FUNDS SAFU
Asher Wood
just store on Binance which the safest exchange. In an event of a hack, CZ will refund all those that lost money
Brody Powell
Initially just $SKY. The first firmware updates will support BTC (and its forks) plus ETH (and ERC20 tokens).
Other coins with their own blockchains will require more integration work and will be added later.
>Sky is an absolute scam. I’d really be careful. >BTC is an absolute scam. I’d really be careful. >ETH is an absolute scam. I’d really be careful. >hurrrr durrrr
I do not plan on buying SKY, just curious about their wallet. Thanks m8
I don't trust muh coins on my active PC (porn and whatnot) and I can't afford an offline PC.
> wait till people try to hack it Good idea m8, didn't one of the recent ones have a vulnerability last release? Also, Trezor Model T looks pretty legit as well, considering buying that one now too.
> No matter what you need a "Vault" I must admit, I've never used one before. Any suggestions? Are there any good hardware Vaults to consider or should I use Coinbase (which I believe insures your vault?) or is there a good Vault I can download online?
> initially just $SKY meh I don't plan on owning SKY anytime soon so that wallet wont do me any good
topkek if you use anything but a nano S your JUSTing yourself. >hold it on binance its supoer secure lel just wait til they get “hacked” or CZ just straight up exit scams >CZ will refund us TOPkek you think some chinese gook will refund you US citizens when he gets hacked n he’s down 500m? The absolute state of biz
Justin Perry
CZ is worth billions and he the most trustworthy guy in crypto. I wouldn't doubt CZ.
Liam Sullivan
I recently got a ledger nano s. very pleased with it. Bluetooth and extra storage not worth it for me as only tokens I store off-exchange are ETH and BTC
Gabriel Cook
Just buy a Trezor! the X is not out of a bit anywho so I would say get the trezor & wait for the nano X, it can take 100 apps. The current Nano S you can only have 5 app installed. Let me explain, you can leave your crypto on there but if you want to put a 6th crypto on the ledger you have to uninstall the app, install the other app, then if you want to access the crypto but you deleted the app on the ledger you have un install one and reinstall...its not difficult just simply a pain! Trezor - Most proven, Open source Ledger - Shitcoin HEAVEN
Also PLEASE DON'T LISTEN TO THE FUNDS ARE SAFU faggots Binance is the 34rd securest exchange, only newfags leave there financial future with someone else!
>i believe in their security and honesty Yeah their blatant security token is illegal >which the safest exchange kek, come on CZ learn english first >He the most trustworthy guy in crypto lel CZ stop samefagging
BNB coin is securities
Grayson Brooks
>Trezor Model T Don't bother! Get the original, works the same except its a got a b/w screen...Use your saving on more crypto /Nano X. FYI i haven't used a Model T...It just seams pointless
Ryan Morgan
Is storage a common issue with Nano S? Second time i've seen it mentioned
Sounds like a pain, I'll definitely have to get something with more storage than the S then. Thanks for the help guy, it's looking like Model T or Nano X.
Also, I don't store shit but my REQT and XMR on Binance. Need to get the Model T or the Nano X since they support XMR
Joshua Bell
Nano S only holds 2-3 assets now. If most of your shitcoins are erc-20 they all fit on your ethereum wallet.
Although not perfect, ledger has the best products. Trezor being a close #2
Ryan Wright
>Need to get the Model T or the Nano X since they support XMR The model T doesn't have a wallet... trezor.io/coins/
Gavin Torres
>storage on Nano S It's not a big issue but some people care about having access to all their shitcoin wallet private keys 100% of the time. Truth is that once you obtain your public address you don't need to keep the wallet installed on your ledger for it to work. Exception to this would be BTC if you care to obtain a new public key for every transaction.
Carson Ortiz
I'm an autist with many shitcoins so i'd probably fall in that category.
I meant the Model T supports XMR, where there regular on does not
Carter Diaz
>I meant the Model T supports XMR, where there regular on does not Got what you said, I am sayin even though the Model T supports XMR, there is no wallet yet! i.e its not workin yet! I don't have my XMR on my ledger but it supports it RN! Your going to have to the the Ledger if you want XMR support RN! 0 point in the model t...you don't know when the wallet will come out
Matthew Adams
Well shit I may just end up waiting for the Nano X to come out then. I'd rather wait the month or two and have everything working rather than wait for a "coming soon" support option. Maybe that bluetooth connection will be neat too
Mason Martin
Sweet, looks like my good deed is done for the day!
hardware wallets are just for convenience and peace of mind. you can get better security with different offline key generation methods, like booting from tails OS and creating an electrum wallet on an airgapped computer. but that can be a big hassle when you want to buy a coffee or some small item.
with that said. ledger has been shitting the bed lately with their recent firmware release. plus you have to download software now to use with the hardware device that tracks certain user data and sends it back to their servers. you cant opt out of this.
Trezor has more open source code, but is also been shitting the bed with recent exploits found by wallet.fail
however, they seem to be going in the right direction by supporting offline signing of tranasaction with their Trezor model T. they also dont require you to download software to use the wallet accept a bridge application. most of their software is in browser, and there's no usage reports sent back their servers...yet. shop.
best one on the market is probably the Trezor Model T at the moment.
Carson Thompson
No, your shitcoins will be worth less than the hardware wallet.
Jack Campbell
Maybe, but that's why i'm looking for one that stores the "blue chips" and shitcoins
thanks m8, i'll take that into consideration with everything else in the thread. Currently Nano X is barely beating out the Model T for me
Easton Reed
Same.
fuck it, life is risk
Christopher Cook
I love my Ledger Nano S. Great device, I would hate to be manually pasting Pkeys all over the place.
Tyler Gomez
>hardware wallet >not printing the codes and burying in the garden, inside a waterproof office case
>buy crypto >cant even hold your money securely because its not real
Ryan Taylor
their recent update made it so that you can only have 2 apps on the device at one time. retardation.
Isaiah Campbell
keep your shit on Binance. One of these day a critical vulnerability in the closed-source ledger software will be exploited and your financial future will be wiped out
Aaron Harris
hardware wallets are a scam because they're all so fucking expensive
Elijah Johnson
i have my 27k link on binance too,
Jason Myers
This is a good report. Saving it to share with others.
