I lost hope that PoS is going to come in any reasonable time frame, but without PoS eth has no value (this also applies to btc). It seems they are going with the plan of hybrid PoS using the beacon chain. If they were competent it could be done in 2019, so it's probably going to happen at the end of 2020

This might actually be true. I am personally spilt 70/30 BTC/ETH. I am not confident in changing this balance. ETH gives you exposure to btc from the perspective of speculation. BTC should have some interesting innovations in the next few years. I also don't know if eth's PoS/PoW will work out.
