iExec is mostly for computationally intensive shit. Holo is mostly for hosting sites/web-apps and so on. Technically there's no reason why Holo couldn't do what iExec does, but that's not its focus right now. They are different projects with little overlap between them atm. The reason why Holo performs much better than iExec is because it's not exceptionally hard to adapt Holo to do what iExec does, but it's almost impossible for iExec to do what Holo does.

Holo works in a very similar way, except rather share pirated downloads, individuals share websites & dapps. Everything is hosted in a decentralized manner. Governments, corporations & private businesses with biased agendas would have no authority to remove content they are against because that content has been distributed on thousands of independent hosts. It is exactly like AWS in it's infrastructure (e.g. your content deployed and redundant on multiple servers), however a DMCA take down request will quickly render your site/cloud application useless since ultimately that content is hosted by Amazon. HOLO is free speech at it's finest.

Technology & computing power is growing at an alarming rate. In several countries, 1Gbps internet plans are the norm. All of this "unused" capacity could easily fuel the next decentralized web. Corporations, small business and individuals will one day have more choices. They could choose to host their website/content/cloud apps on private corporate servers (Amazon, GoDaddy) or go completely independent (decentralized) and avoid the hassles of policies, regulation, data collection, privacy issues, etc.

I'd like to think of HOLO as an extended Jow Forums. Every individual can express whatever they desire in a completely anonymous way, except Jow Forums's infrastructure is not decentralized. HOLO will change that.
