Thinking of buying a car?

Or just curious as to what goes on in dealerships when the customer isn’t present?
Ask a car salesman anything.
I’ll tell you all our filthy secrets, and fill you in on how the industry is getting fucked up the ass by the internet.

Curious about what happens at your's. Have a buddy of mine who works at one. Mostly sits around on his phone, does some calls and his boss buys him lunch. Continues to sit and wait. Does some e-mails.

What goes on at the dealership when the customer isn't present?

spill the beans

Why buy a used car for $10,000 when you could buy 1 billion XIP for $10,000 tronscan.org/#/token/1002020

we all saw hydewars 33

It’s really hard to predict any given day. Sometimes I’ll have four appointments and only one person shows up, sometimes I’ll have nothing going on and three people I’ve been talking to on the internet appear out of thin air.
When I’m not working with a customer I go through my sales database and call/email/text my leads. The rest of the time I bullshit with coworkers or sit at my desk and watch YouTube depending on foot traffic.

Do you lease? Partner with Fair? Car subscriptions are the future.
>inb4 Dave Ramsey faggots who are cucking themselves by owning and never stopped to do the math

In Florida by any chance?

It'd be interesting if you could figure out when people show up based on weather or some other variables.

Got my last car at a dealer through an Internet lead. It was a KIA at a Ford dealership. First non-Ford and I'm a big fan of it.

>KIA at a Ford dealership
Is that even legal?

I’ll just throw a few things out there that I think car buyers should know.
1. The industry has changed
Car salesman of the 80s and 90s could afford to be sleazy dicks because of huge consumer demand and also the absence of accessible databases like KBB, Cargurus, etc...
The old strategy was centered around competing with customers. Dealerships would pay $3k for a trade-in then turn around and lost it for $9k. Some schmuck comes in, argues the salesman $1500 down, and walks away feeling like he won. Dealerships could be pushy and aggressive through the entire process, because the average customer was totally in the dark when it came to market values, esp on used cars.

What the internet has done is armed the consumer with information. If I list a 2001 Honda Accord with 167k miles for $7,000 NOBODY will come look at my car. When somebody asks me a question about the car they’re looking at, there’s a chance they’re just testing how well I know my product.
The competition is now between dealerships. In my area, most of the online sale prices for new cars are at invoice or just over. (Yes, there is hidden money on new cars called “holdback” but it’s typically less than $1k and doesn’t really go into our pockets, at least not mine.)
The front-end gross on new cars is negligible which is why most salesmen are now payed a “mini” per unit rather than a percentage based commission. (The decrease in gross also explains why the bullshit “doc fees” and $500 accessories get put on cars.) Used cars are a mixed bag.
Give me a second and I’ll explain how dealerships actually make money, and how to get the best deal possible.

They sell new Fords (advertise themselves as "Ford City") and used cars, Ford and non-Ford alike.

I assume it's legal as the local KIA dealership handles the manufacturer warranty I still have for another 12,000 miles.

Cool thread OP,

BUMP

also what do you think about carmax and their business model? i kind of like it

Really interesting. Keen to hear more. Bump

How do I get the cheapest car?

Predicting foot traffic becomes really easy after a few months. The weather and college football are the biggest factors.
Reading back over this, I need to clarify that the new cars I sell are Japanese. I'm not sure what the markups are like on domestics, and the luxury market is whole different ballgame.

Do you think you’re shedding light on anything? You haven’t said a single thing of value so far. You’re just talking about how you sit at your desk twiddling your thumbs. Honestly, stop talking because you don’t have a clue. I have my dealers license. I go to Manheim all over the country and I get a half a dozen to a dozen cars every week. I buy cars with good CR and I get them for under MMR. Then I turn around and list them for double - which is usually bluebook value. I get pretty close to 2x roi on average. My turnover rate is pretty good. I haven’t sat on a car longer than 45 days. I’m also a car enthusiast and I buy cars that people in my area like. I have a few employees and I’m at the point now where I need to expand further but reading your thread convinced me not too because I don’t need a mouth breather like you sitting at a desk consuming resources and watching YouTube.

How I get cheapest new or used car with my btc

Aaand my ID changed due to switching to posting from my laptop.
All I know about carmax is that every one of my customers who has their trade-in appraised there was given a bullshit offer.
The cheapest car? Go to craigslist.
If you want the best value for your money, and you keep cars long-term, buy a certified pre-owned with like 10k miles. You'll pay less than you would for a new car, get a longer warranty, and if you put some money down you won't have to deal with negative equity. That's what I would do personally.

That’s because Car max goes way lower than MMR you dumb noob. That way they can auction them off and they’re all but guaranteed to turn a profit.

Do you know anything about auto mechanics, and how not to get ripped off by them?

BASED lol, enlighten us friend

Weather I can see. College football is a bit of an odd one I wouldn't expect.

I want to buy a 2019 Honda Civic. They wanted 23k and I offered them 18k with tax, tag and title. Guy said it was impossible. He's called me back twice offering 19k.

Should I wait a little longer to see if they do the 18k?

Any other negotiating advice?

Licensing is the biggest barrier to entry. After that you Pick a strategy or find a niche. Or some combination. If you want to sell high volume just get Japanese SUV’s (Honda & Toyota) and get them for under MMR (average auction price based on recent comparable sales data - it’s literally calculated for you in the APP). Make sure they have a good cr (condition report - yes, they inspect the cars for you and let you know what’s wrong with them. You can even drive them around all you want) and sell them for just under bluebook (normies will flood in thinking it’s a great deal but you’re making almost double so who cares). Spam ads constantly. Delete ads that are a few days old and repost so they always look like new listings. Spam ads in neighboring cities, towns, states. I have people from 2 states away come and buy stuff from me. If you get them to buy with financing you get a kickback from the lender. And don’t hire retards like OP that just waste your time and resources.

NO. what trim? 19k is a steal for a brand new civic ex

Are you prepared for them to maybe pull their deal off the table altogetber?
> tell them you went over to their competition at XYZ Honda and they agreed to do $17.5 all in.
That should grind their gears. Could go either way though.
Or just be straight up:
> tell them “hey you’ve already come down to basically my price point. I gave you my best offer. You want to loose the sale over this small discrepancy?

Sweaten the deal for them with terms, ex: cash. No nonsense. Quick close.

Dealers want quick inventory turnover. Just keep that in mind.

Lmao. I took this job in between military and starting college. I'm willing to bet I've worked harder than you ever have.
God forbid that there are actually times at work when there's nothing to do. At least I'm not an annoying faggot who pretends he flips cars in his sleep.
When it's thirty degrees on a Monday morning and I've called everyone I can call...what the fuck am I supposed to do? Wave a sign on the highway? Get real.
I'm not in the wholesale game. I work at a dealership, which is what this thread is about, and I do well for myself. Why do you feel the need to be a subversive nigger?

Are the shitty ass $200 warranties worth buying or a scam

What trim level and what is the cost of tag/title/tax? I sell Honda.

My problem with you is that you’re pretending to have knowledge on something that you have no idea about. If you had a brain you would constantly be working on SEO and ads but your too stupid to do that and you’re most likely a shit EMPLOYEE.
Now you’re listing your credentials (or lack thereof) to justify your ignorance, but it’s not working. You’re in between military and college? So youve accomplished nothing. I have an MBA, I own 3 businesses, and have zero debt. I also have my bags packed with crypto and have been to the moon twice already. I can’t wait to feel it’s warm glow again. Now if you don’t have anything important to say please kinda stfu and do something useful or at least Spam link threads.

You are an EMPLOYEE (comissionCuck) at a used car dealership, I own one.

are you an evil bitch

ever kill anybody?

Easy there, champ. Nobody cares.

Sell some pos trucks to cucks that worship trucks and sell cameros to niggers. Eventually repo and resell for more profit. Rinse and repeat

Not op but do you have the 18k in hand? If yes then just walk in with the 18k on hand ask to speak to the manager, and just start counting the 18k on his desk. Do it normally and this should overwhelm the guy. Just say look cash on hand, 18k all yours if we can make this deal happen. Cash is king, when's the last time someone came into the office with a fat wad of Benjamins? Never. That'll work because they'll see the money now instead of in payments.

What I really came here to post about, before this thread devolved, was what you should know before going into negotiations.
As I said earlier, dealerships are now focused on fighting each other as opposed to customers.
Anyone can now pull out their smartphone and get a quote on a new car from five different dealerships. We call this "price shopping" when you take our quote and then come back with a lower one at another store.
Most people instinctively do not want to come off as eager to buy a car when they visit dealerships. That's the wrong mindset - when you visit a store and indicate to them that you will shop prices elsewhere, they are not going to give you their best offer. When we know you are going to start a bidding war, or are just using us for a test drive, we lose all incentive to play our best hand upfront.
Here's how to get the best deal.
1. Make sure you ask for quotes "out the door." You don't want to show up somewhere and get hit with a $600 doc fee and $900 of accessories.
2. Once you have all your quotes, go to the dealership with the second lowest price.
Establish intent to buy. This is huge. Be friendly to the salesman. Just work on giving the impression that you are going to buy from them.
3. Sit down with the salesman. Make sure the paper they want you to sign matches the quote you were sent. If so, don't make any objections to the price. In fact, indicate to them that you are pleased with it. Now come up with a reasonable excuse why you can't sign the purchase agreement quite yet.
"You guys have been great, I want to buy from here and I like the price, but...
>I need to convince my wife
>I didn't realize I was going to be making this decision so soon. I need to move some funds.
Say your goodbyes and make your exit.
4. Call them back the same day if possible
Tell them that your wife was doing research and Joe Blow Honda offered her a lower quote.

Tell them you still want to buy from them but your wife just wants the lower price. However, if they can just match Joe Blow Honda's offer you will put a deposit down that instant.
Either they will sell that car for $500 below the lowest quote you received or you will find out what they can sell it for. Congrats, you got a great deal.

That's a negative, ghostrider. Dealerships want you to finance.

Why do they want us to (((finance)))?

How do you get a better APR?

Interesting, thanks

How much do you make a year? Seems like a chill job but in the same time, I feel I wouldn't make enough to sustain an independent existence.
