both systems must be rejected entirely if you want to escape this dystopia. this will require people to call into question the very foundations that society is built upon. particularly - why do we work? work became a thing to facilitate our survival, but we are long since past conquering the basics of the natural world. so why do we still work? people do not work on their passions. they work for the sake of it. such to the point the system will dictate we augment ourselves just for the sake of it.
the REAL goal of the system in place (and the terrible alternative that's offered by the other political spectrum) is to deprive you of the sanctity of your mind, body, and soul. thus the real solution is a society built not on work, but built on ideals and principles.

They're trying to make them robust (like so they can fall and get back up without you helping them)
Probably also so they can eventually replace infantry. The next arms race will be battle bots (and hacking them), mech suits, space weaponry, etc. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll be used in a conventional war between two superpowers - probably more in civil wars and in proxy wars.
