>tfw big4 accountant
>33 years old and a senior still
>not promoted, not given a raise, because i lack social skills
>see the Chads leaving to work in banking, making double what i do
>or the Chads go on international secondments
>while i slave away at another busy season
>can't pass interviews
>somehow get an equity research interview, didn't get a second round
>Chads who are actually braindead (some were my staff in audits) get equity research and other nice jobs because of their connections
what do Jow Forums? how do i make it?
Tfw big4 accountant
>big4
>33 years old
>still a senior
holy fuck user are you literally retarded? serious question have you ever been diagnosed with autism?
i went back to school for accounting, so i am several years behind
i might have autism, no friends, no social skills
no idea why anyone would want to become an accountant
jesus man, the firm is giving you a big hint time to move into corporate accounting or audit
Yeah man, you seem perfect for auditing.
define "no social skills"
Do people at least greet you in the hallways? Does your manager like you? Do you have friendly small talk with your co-workers?
Conference calls
i don't know either tbqh
i don't want to be stuck in corporate accounting though
>audit
i am in audit. it's my 5th year here as an auditor
i don't want to move into something i will regret even more, but i don't know how to transition to one of the better paying jobs that the Chads go to (banking, corporate finance, etc)
i have no friends
people greet me, managers typically like me, partners typically like me
i don't have small talk with anyone, except for the cursory how are you, and how was your weekend
This is it OP, the firm is saying you aren't welcome anymore. You need to get the fuck out and go into private industry.
Question though where are you at and how much are you making? I was really depressed not getting into the Big4 when I graduated and a couple of my friends did. They gave me shit and left me behind. But I eventually lucked into a comfy government job and I am pretty sure I'm doing better than them but I can't be sure.
Become Chad?
i don't say much during meetings either, another reason why i wasn't promoted
trying to get out, but i don't know what i want to move to and how to get a good job
i've literally only applied to two jobs, both in equity research. got 1 interview but failed horribly
i work in toronto, making 75k. still live with my parents in the suburbs because prices are too high
i would if i could. don't have the social network to be one
EY till I die motherfuckers, now back to work. Love me some 7 day work weeks during busy season.
probably you wasn't born in the right family to have good business connection.
And accounting is for retard, so self study finance and math or you will get fired in the next 5 years.
75k in Toronto isn't very good, especially for the hours. Damn.
Anyways, not sure how it is in Canada, but in the U.S. you usually go to a Big 4 firm after college to get licensed as a CPA. You work there like a slave for 2-3 years, then get a job as a controller somewhere making more money for less work/stress.
>having to go to a big 4 firm in order to get licensed as a CPA
[citation extremely needed]
>Aside from education, most states require CPA candidates to work for 1,800 hours under the supervision of a licensed CPA, which they can do before, during or after the exam process.
It's common knowledge you dumb fucking faggot.
i'm writing the CFA, but tbqh, i don't know how much good it will do
what do i do after self-studying finance and math?
when i look at industry positions though, getting over 100k CAD seems difficult
controller positions are rare, and they are more in the 90k-100k range. and tbqh, i don't want to get stuck doing corporate accounting, want to do something more finance related if i can
the people doing really well are the Chads who are making 150k thanks to their connections
here in Canada it used to be like that, very few articling positions in industry. they've changed it in the past few years though
>must work for 1800 hours under the supervision of a licensed CPA
Right, only licensed CPA's work in Big 4 firms. Nowhere else.
Of course.
Sure you can work at some small regional firm but you will be making shit money and they usually ride you just as hard if not harder, and when you finally get your experience you will never land a decent job and constantly get passed over for Big 4 experienced applicants.
If you can't get into Big 4 public accounting isn't worth it.
>accounting is for retard
"...support the laws and regulations and perform my professional duties to the best of my ability in an ethical, professional and objective manner.
As a CPA, I will uphold the honor and dignity of the accounting profession and abide by the rules of professional conduct."
with good knowledge in math and finance, you will able to find a better position in the workplace you aspire (banks, equity fund, financial analysis) etc.
but how do i show that on a resume?
why would a company hire me over someone with an actual math degree? or experience in finance
> support the laws and regulations.
nice but remeber 1000 laws and 1000 different regulations is for retards, becuase every years you have to forget and start again.
crybraggin'
showing your skill during the interview?
Math is something that when properly used make a good impression.
Not OP but i have a doubt about accounting major
Can i use my programming background to get a bettwr position after graduating
At least you work in big 4. I got rejected from every public firm I interviewed at and I was forced to go into private. The fact that you made senior shows that you at least did something right.
Kys OP

>33
>senior
you are beyond fucked, you've been marked as a failure and will probably never get promoted at your current company
You aren’t getting into investment banking bro, you are too autistic
Seriously find some nice internal audit department in corporate America it was made for nerd like you
Lol people who love spending 7 days each week to cuck for work instead of getting a comfy industry job(70k-100k) and creating an investment portfolio mixed with stocks, crypto and property(eventually businesses too). Passive income and retiring by 35-40 is the goal. Wage cucking and working your life away is such a meme.
r-really?
