So the proposal is that someone owns a robo factory, making widgets, they pay tax to the government on the profits from widget sales, that tax goes to people as UBI, they then buy widgets with their UBI money (the same money that was taken as tax on the profit from the widget sale).

UBI only works with correctly implemented population control, which we need anyway to stave of environmental collapse. I don't give a shit personally, but most people hold their ability to shit out crotch-fruit and do a shit job raising them as more important than that.

Seems like a good idea, but it would raises taxes, increase rent and home ownership, and globally decrease wages.

People will still have to work because the UBI would be enough to eat and pay a small rent, but nothing more.

Could work in high life standard countries like Denmark or Finland, but not third world countries. With UBI, migrants would have even more incentive to come live in the west.

I really don’t see how capitalism will surivive this century. AI will put most people out of a job and wealth concentration will ensure all the productive assets remain in the hand of the elite. At that point you either have to have UBI or a civil war.

If there's capital and it's in the hand of a few, then that IS capitalism.
UBI will come, to our deteiment, as it's just pocket money for eternity and the degenerating upper class will vegetate in the reigning position.

What over population problem? Even worldwide, global pop peaks at 7 billion in 2050 and then declines. Fertility rates haven been falling everywhere for decades. Yeah it’s too late for Europe/US, but even Chinese and Middle East fertility is crashing.

I never understood the overpopulation thing. Look at a satellite image of the Earth, there's so many places that are empty. And we've barely even begun to build upwards, I see 1 floor or 3 floor apartments everywhere. Meanwhile genetical engineering is making us able to grow more food on less space and soon enough we'll even be able to make cost efficient lab grown meat that tastes exactly the same as the real deal.

We should just do welfare in exchange for sterilization. If you cant be self suficient you should be removed from the gene pool. That is the solution that most approximates how nature works.
