They're building a real world product with a small team that wants to compete with big players like Google. That takes real effort and time. A preview version of their ad mechanism has become part of the Brave developer build and it's looking pretty solid to me.

Software projects are even worse than construction projects I imagine. In construction projects you can at least sometimes see with your own eyes when something has been wired the wrong way.
