Is this a better solution than an apartment...

Is this a better solution than an apartment? Would co-workers and employers still take you seriously if you lived in one of these?

no

i don't think you would save all that much compared to an apartment of similar comfort, maybe a few thousand per year if you're lucky

depends on your industry. If you're in one that would be concerned you probably don't need to do it

The difference between incel and a volcel

It's funny because if it floats on water, you wouldn't even ask this question and worship the idea.

Let's try this again in these terms:
>Is this a better solution than an apartment?
Holy fuck yes.

>Would co-workers and employers still take you SERIOUSLY if you lived in one of these?
HAHAHAHA

In that contrast, yes it's a better solution than an apartment, yes most would still take you seriously(even if you had a yacht, there would still be those who won't.)

No one would be happy if you rolled into the employers parking lot everyday in a class c. A totally stealth econoline van is also probably too much vehicle.

A boat at a marina has to be much more secure. Leave the van overnight off private property and it will get broken into.

that thing is for people who have retired and already made lots of money. its not for saving money. if you want that then get a much older, non-mercedes camper.

And where do you plan on taking a shit or shower?

difference is you're not going to get raided by a pack of wild NIGGERS on a boat, are you?

top kek

Boat fag here. Been living aboard 4.5 years. All said and done, I'm paying about half the average rate to live in my location.

I also love boating. So do females.

is it hard to learn to sail?

Sailing is the easy part. Maintaining and troubleshooting the systems on a large vessel is the hard part, but everything's online. Very rewarding hobby, it doubles as an exit strategy for the rat race.

It really depends.
Depends on the quality of your rig, inside and out. Is it an off-the-shelf "adventure vehicle" that you bought? is it a totally stealth van? is your industry stiff and very traditionally professional as in suit and tie or is it a tech or backend biz that is more accepting of alternative ideas?

if you build a very nice, apartment on wheels that does have shitty "single dude in his twenties" hacks like a bucket for a toilet then yeah, totally cool, although you'll get some questions and you'll have to make sure to have a permanent mailing address. would be a lot more acceptable if you had a dependable parking spot like fi your rented a spot in a friends house for low cost.

I myself dream of building a schoolie (school bus conversion). A lot of my ideas are pipe dreams that are stuck on the wish list due to how expensive a lot of it can be but I think I'd solve 90% or more of the issues associated by beefing up suspension, doing a tesla ev conversion in the rear to give extra power and also act as the battery bank. slide out solar to increase capacity, and a well-built pop top master bedroom so I don't have to deal with fold out couches or lack of privacy. of course I'd also want to insulate the hell out of it and put in actual bulkhead doors and secret cut-off switches for security and peace of mind but it's still only in the planning stage. the tesla drivetrain alone would cost 20-30k not even counting the instal and wiring and any modifications needed to make it fit.

ehh, maybe one day, after the next crypto bull0run when I have 100k burning a hole in my pocket

No, I would only live in one of these if I lived in NYC/SF and could leverage my income to buy more rental property. Buy it with cash ofc to reduce debt to income ratio.

Kek, who the fuck armed them?

Glow in the darks

depending on where you live and what your work is, a van can definitely work. financially for me it made a ton of sense and i did it for a few years. i never told my coworkers but the only ones that said anything about it to me were positive or at least curious about it -- granted i spent most of that time freelancing though.

I remember that thread! Good times...

can you just sail anywhere in the world? or do you need to apply for visas and check in with local governments/

I want to do this too user, with something like pic related. It's been a dream for a long time but it was only that...a dream. That was years ago but now that I recently became homeless, I'm really thinking of doing it. I have a job already and a tiny bit saved. If I can find a van for a few thousand I swear I'll pull the trigger.

Does anyone have buying tips?

I'm pretty sure I could get by without any of my coworkers knowing it so whatever about being "taken seriously"

$10 per month gym membership

>shit
Public library, busy hotel lobby, public park bathroom, bathroom at work, random port-a-potties

>shower
Admittedly much more difficult: campgrounds, homeless shelter, gym, public swimming pool

Yes

Yeah you just need to check in with customs if you're making landfall. Many countries let you apply for a tourist visa right there, so you'll be allowed to stay 30-90 days.

You're better off researching ahead of time and checking out what kinda shots you should get, any forms they'll require, what's legal, etc... Worst case they turn you away, but you can still get supplies and shit.

Some have showers and toilets like campers do

bretty gud, 6.7 liter, eats more gas than semi truck

I legit would consider this but another part of me just feels weird doing that. Shits? Ya, you can hold that in but piss? Sometimes you just gotta go asap

>wanting co workers and employers to "take you seriously"
with this mentality, you're a wageslave either way, dude, it doesn't matter where you live.

how much does a livable boat cost...

Attached: iTaSwul.jpg (1333x2000, 367K)

could just pay $100/month or $12k total for a camper and park it at wallmart or a park.

My boomer retired parents have one of these monstrosities, can confirm it has a shower and toilet

Goat tier if having successful family members you can mooch off. I currently live with my older brother in the basement of his mcmansio with split entry for max comfy neetness

How dare you defile that piece of modern art with your words

where do you shit and shower?

>And where do you plan on taking a shit or shower?
Planet Fatness gym membership. 24 hours, thousands of locations throughout the US. Access to full bathroom facilities including showers, a pool, wifi, and free pizza. And you get a parking lot to overnight in where no one asks any questions.

Your total monthly "rent" is $25.

Boondocking has been a thing since before your dad spit you even dribbled out of your father, son.

>Does anyone have buying tips?

Dont. My friend lives in a panel van and the thing is a fucking oven. He smells like shit and has to move the van every couple days because of throwing piss and shit into the grass.

If you want to save money move out of basedicon valley.

imagine rolling up to the old company parking lot in this thing
the boss would probably give me his position
