Speed is not an argument as to why a company would switch to a decentralized method. If they wanted a fast database they would simply use a centralized ledger. So think settlement failure, which accounts for billions and billions of lost dollars in any given Month, and think how smart contracts can greatly help ease this problem in finance, then realize smart contracts will need a safe stream of data in order to accomplish this task.
