Gambling - profit or pissing it all away?

Are there any ways to do gambling (lotto write-in tickets and scratchoffs, casino gambling - craps tables, slot machines) where you can actually profit without cheating, or is the system always just rigged to make you lose and go into debt?

Craps and poker, everything else is a money pit. You need a certain IQ to make it, though.

Lotteries were the state co-opting the numbers game. Which was actually much fairer.

I have a higher chance of winning top prize on a scratchoff than I do of getting laid

nah the house has an edge in craps on every come out roll since they don't pay the don't pass on a 12. poker sure you can make it, but you still have to understand there's rake and variance. even with rake and variance in poker you're still able to create your own odds to a point and through superior decision making and with risk management you can definitely make it.

actually baccarat has a true 50-50 so in theory if you double your previous bet every time you lose even if you lose 100 times in a row on the 101st time you'll win back your initial bet. But if you start with 1 dollar and lose 5 times the sixth bet will have to be 32 dollars and you'll have to have put up 63 total to get to that point, you lose again it's going to be another 64 and a 127 total. If you're actually going to be trying to make money you're going to multiply that starting bet 500 times so you're really looking at risking $63,000 to make 500 bucks which just seems asinine on paper, and then if you lose that, you're need to be willing to risk over 100 grand just to make 500. It's called variance and you do it enough times you'll see that kind of string of outcomes.

the only reason i don't play poker professionaly is because as a job you've got to work to actively seek out losers, and you really can't really have any friends or build any kind of relationship with the people you're spending a large portion of your time with. It was literally just me against the world at the table when i did play professionally and I mean I can still walk into any poker room anywhere in the world and win more than my fair share pots, but it's nothing to make a career out of unless you're a loner or network into and become some kind of celebrity to profit off side endorsements.

>you really can't really have any friends or build any kind of relationship
Wow turns out I've been playing poker my whole life!

yeah if you have no empathy and are a complete sociopath pokers a great game for you.

The martingale system assumes that you have infinite money to keep betting. In real life it doesn't work that way. Statistically it increases your odds of winning in the short term while increasing your losses the longer you play.

You also have a higher chance of being the first human on mars

Incorrect.

The only 50-50 casino game without counting systems is Casino War.

And yes, Vegas has Casino War in every casino... but only 1-3 tables on the strip.

no baccarat is a true 50-50, most placed just force you to pay a commission if you win a bet placed on the banker.

Oh, forgot to add.

Don't gamble.

Unless u don't give af about the money.

Protip, protip: that includes speculative ventures like crypto and gold/silver.

I'm outti.

oh wait no you're right, there's a rule in there regarding extra card and order of deal that gives the banker a slight edge, still probably the best odds you'll find in a casino though

Taking gambling seriously will only fuck you hard. No system can beat a house edge. You gotta approach it recreationally. Leave the plastic at home. Carry with you only that you can afford to lose. Always use your comp card. All those comps: free rooms, free food, free spa visits, free booze, free plays, bets, drawings will put you at about even or more if you keep up with it all.

martingale works as long as you set yourself a limit of like, say, $10
bet $1, lose, bet $2, lose, bet $4, lose, bet $8, lose, now suck that loss up and go back to betting $1
if you do it this way you're guaranteed to profit over a billion games

Is it definitely the 5th iteration back to start

LOL what type of imaginary poker image do you have based on films poker is very fun online when you apply quantitative approach like chess so deep

Can't you just play chess online for money and then use an AI bot to see what the best possible move is?

playing poker online has bots but at lower stakes the strategies they apply are hard to beat if you don't know who is colluding but it is easy to find out who is colluding based on key stats vpip pfr 3bet fvs3bet etc

nah not specifically its just something I made up on the spot

That isn't true. Counting blackjack is impractical nowadays, but it is proof the house can be beaten. You could also try to win money off other people instead of the casino. Poker was a good example, so is backgammon, and things like tournament casino games, where they become.
>when you apply quantitative approach like chess so deep
I'm not the person you were talking to, but go down to the casino. Take someone's money, and if you have even a bit of empathy, you will feel a part of their suffering. You will be submersed in this environment of despair. It's why, if you got to 2+2, you will find that professional poker players experience a numbing of emotions. Not only do they stop caring about winning or losing money, it extends
to everything they feel in life.

I personally, and every poker pro I have met, has eventually, although I'm sure they had fun at the beginning, has grown to loathe the game. Right now, I'm convinced that only recreational players have fun playing poker. Even if you only play online, you would need absurd volume even if you are on the top 1% of skill, to make a decent living in the long term. It would be far easier to learn to be lawyer, and far more profitable. It's weird to see you accuse some guy of basing his image of the game on films, when to me, it looks like you're the one getting carried away with your imagination.

I was playing 99% live games, and I had heard horror stories from players regarding frozen funds from the online shit. I managed to win a free roll on pokerstars but eventually blew up the account when I was drunk one night. This was a good 7 or 8 years ago. I was making about about 80 bucks an hour, but I learned more about my self through the experiences and shit. I mean when you just take a guy to the felt, then get up and go smoke, but have to overhear him on the phone trying to explain to his girl that he's just lost his rent money... I mean it eventually started getting to me and I made the decision it wasn't the lifestyle I wanted to live. It's one thing to just play online but the live game is more personal. I still play for fun and don't even keep logs of profit/loss time played anymore. The fact is poker is a 0 sum game, while my career now is an everybody wins situation that truly creates value. It's more fulfilling.

I play roulette once or twice a year and have for about 10 years. I've never lost money at roulette. I've also never made thousands. Play slow, pick numbers you like, play corners/splits, every 3 or 4 spins split 0-00

This, whether crypto or any other form of gambling, the second you bet or spend your money consider it lost.
