Who's paying for it?
inb4 you say the rich, they'll cut a deal and move their money elsewhere.
THE POSITIVE EXTERNALITIRS WILL PAY FOR THEMSELVES
dead bill gates dead warren buffet all those fat rich jew thieves. NYC DC and san fran gonna get clipped hard
automation will 'pay' for it.
LOL
it needs to be electronic currency restricted to basic necessities, like in this picture.
Value Added Taxes instead of just based on income for businesses so company like Amazon pay their fair share + removal of other welfare like unemployment and food stamps + cheaper prisons because the increase in income is proven to lower crime.
wat is a VAT tax
>UBI implemented
>price of air jordans skyrockets 400%
>shit nigga, dis chink mofucca lied to us
Say you are the person that makes this a reality, what would you set the income at?
600$?
>implement huge VAT
>blackmarket appears
>implement huge income taxes
>rich avoid it
This chink would do what every other politician does, which is pay for things via debt
$500 and run on $1000 for your second term if $500 works well
DIdn't communist china tried this already?
Not op but I would create a crypto that emitted ubi to every proven identity. Make it anonymous then allow people to vote with it.
Plug it into a market with a set budget for buy walls to exchange for DAI.
I mean, eventually, we're either going to need UBI or like 90% of the population is gonna end up poor.
was skeptical at first but he actually made good points in joe rogan's podcast and was reasonable
almost too reasonable, which is why he'll never get elected
>WE NEED AN ENTIRE POPULACE DEPENDANT ON THE GOVERNMENT WHICH IS SO BENEVOLANT AND WOULD CERtaINLY NOT TURN OFF DISSENTERS BANK ACCOUNTS AND WATCH THEM STARVE
WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE COULD JUST TAX GIANT COMPANIES WHO PUT WORK OFFSURE AND ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM RATHER THAN PUTTING A BANDAID ON IT
YEAH THE ELITE WILL LET THE CATTLE LIVE AFTER AUTOMATION CLEARLY THE ELITE ARE SO LOVELY
Democratic primary voters will vote for an old white lady before they vote for a 2nd generation Asian-immigrant.
Dude has the right idea about automation though, hopefully his message lives on.
This guy sounded so fake and gross on Joe Rogan. He started every other sentence with "Joe, you know" and mentioned they were fellow entrepreneurs or parents like 10 times like some fucking retarded robot who was just recently coached on how to talk to regular people.
Maybe listen to what he's saying instead of how he says it.
>UBI is a fantasy.
Useless people will eventually be culled. Abortion, and career women high-risk pregnancies are just step one. The suggestion. Infertility, and sterility, low sperm count, will be the nudge; and the shove, laws and licenses regulating reproduction, come later.
Assuming your offspring survive the culling, Then there will be nano medical tech/AI keeping us alive indefinitely, and perhaps a UBI, but more likely t the supply/demand price chart breaks down because we can produce effective infinite supply of goods via 3D printing, and infinite supply of services via AI, and therefore no reason to charge or pay for most goods and services.
We then turn to the stars out of boredom, and Boldy Go Were No Man Has Gone Before. It's all been scripted out already.
Voters aren't capable of that.
I saw his interview on Joe Rogan's podcast looked him up. He has good ideas and points, but we probably are going to see a shit storm and the effects of automation before we finally have UBI.
Some are. When they hear that the reason their uncle unloaded a shotgun into his face is because he was feeling completely useless as society discarded him due to automation, some will listen.
Kill yo self
>almost too reasonable, which is why he'll never get elected
this
>most ppl ITT unironically shilling for UBI
The absolute state of biz
He should have pulled himself up by his bootstraps, gone up to the manager, and given him a firm handshake.
>t. the average voter
Then prices move up and in a few years you are back to square one. UBI needs to be coupled with laws that prevent inflation somehow.
Space, the final frontier.
I wonder if we hit LEV in the next 50 years. I was looking at a pic of myself from when I was 21 today and thinking I will possibly look like that again in my lifetime. Weird
Maybe, but next uncle timmy won't just take himself out. Then a conversation begins and normies awaken.
Didn't happen after multiple incel shootings. People just started calling for ugly people to be put in prison and more likely the scenario in will play out.
Okay but you didn't answer the question. UBI would cost the government (i.e. taxpayers) an additional 3 trillion (250 million x $12,000) each year, the current federal budget is 3.3 trillion alone and that's counting every single service the federal government right now performs. A 10% additional sales tax (that's basically what VAT is with the distinction that it affects unsold merchandise as well iirc) is not going to pay for it, it will increase costs though as Yang admits himself.
>Our UBI plan has no changes in the supply of money because it is funded by a Value-added Tax.
Sales tax revenue in the U.S. is under 600 billion at an average of 7.9%. There is no way that a 10% VAT fills that gap
>It is likely that some companies will increase their prices in response to people having more buying power, and a VAT would also increase prices marginally
>some companies
>marginally
No shit, dude.
>However, there will still be competition between firms that will keep prices in check
As happened with every other universal government program (like forcing banks to honor loans hedged against dubious and ludicrously expensive college degrees) and even more selective ones like Medicare, the price floor itself will expand rapidly against inflation.
>$1,000 for everyone every month Joe
>And all our current welfare programs
>AND Medicare for all
>Trust me I've seen all sides of the economy, I've worked with tech start ups, and I've worked with tech start ups on the east coast too.
>We're going to give you $1,000 free every month.
Wow where's it going to come from?
>Simple, we just make the stuff you buy more expensive!
Brilliant.
I predict all the republicans will stfu when the checks start arriving and there will be very few check-burning protests
Anyone noticed this cynical blackpill whenever there is a tax discussion "do nothing the rich find all the loopholes anyway" at least if we have the taxes there people have the illusion of happiness which is better than nothing.
Perhaps you make the loopholes hard to achieve I dunnoarino
my main problem with his arguments is that i deal with niggers and other trash on a regular basis. they'll spend that $1000 on crack and jordans on the first day of the fucking month. the next 30 they'll be out begging for someone to buy them food and pay their bills. it won't solve fucking anything at all. it won't replace any social programs.
We need a single tax on land. remove all sales, income, vice, and other taxes. tax fucking land and nothing else. no loopholes. market based. opt out if you want. progessive. not theft.
Adam Smith proposed a system of ground rents in 'Wealth of nations'. It made sense then and it makes sense now.
They should all be gassed. The world is better off without them
Trump could actually easily steal this issue by tying it into capitalism, just name it Entrepenurial Bucks, and make it opt-in so it calms down the 'True Conservatives'. Get Tucker Carlson on this shit and point out that Richard Nixon was a big proponent on the idea in 1964 and get rid of the welfare state for it, perhaps he could justify raising taxes on the Democrat Rich.
>UBI would cost the government (i.e. taxpayers) an additional 3 trillion (250 million x $12,000) each year,
No, it won't. Yang addresses this in the first 10 minutes of the podcast
imagine believing UBI is ever going to exist in a world with shitskins
According to Yang himself the proposed 10% VAT would pay for a little over 25%~ of the proposed 3 trillion needed (800 billion) so they'd need to get around 75%~ of it from additional income taxes (2.20 trillion). Current income taxes account for 1.4 trillion of our 3.3 trillion total federal budget so you'd need to increase income taxes by about 85% of what they are now to keep up, almost doubling them.
>85% higher taxes out of your paycheck
>10% higher cost on all goods and services (that's just year one)
>"hurr i bet u wudn't throw ur FrEe MoNeY* away even if u don't like the policy faggit durr xd"
This is so dumb.
>UBI kicks in.
>All the niggers buy gucci belts in the immediately.
Where’s my check then, chink?
"If I were to rewrite the book, I would offer the Savage...the possibility of sanity...where community economics would be decentralist and Henry-Georgian".
I read his "thesis" on his website. Just because someone ostensibly smart writes something doesn't mean they're immune from being retarded. For example, apart from the VAT:
>Andrew proposes funding UBI by consolidating some welfare programs
He mentions giving the current recipients of welfare and other services a choice between UBI and their current benefits (guess which one they'll pick, if you said "whatever pays more", you're right!). How does this reduce bureaucracy when you're still going to have people on Social Security making $1,300 (average) and still needing the staff to both distribute and account for these funds? It doesn't.
The rest of the document is pure utopian conjecture
>if we gave everyone $1,000 a month no one would go to jail or the hospital xd
The fact he actually wrote as much is stunning, and the fact he attributes 1 trillion dollars in savings to that whimsical notion is perhaps even moreso.
Silly user, life extension is for Jews and good goy billionaires. You get infected with super-Ebola and left to die in the streets with your family.
>we
Neck yourself
If ubi becomes a thing I'm going to stockpile ammunition, this is our last chance before a collapse.
Why do you think I am investing in crypto kiddo
It won't be super Ebola, that's too risky. But, you're right, there's no way LEV is unleashed with 7billion people. Life expectancy in America is actually decreasing. So we need a 180 turnaround first.
yea sure y not
Alaska did.
>>And all our current welfare programs
You don't get UBI if your already making 1K a month from the government, he's just offering to make it a minimum.
WE NEED BRAPPERS
>UBI might cut into foreign aid for Israel!
The problem with UBI is that it forces workers to work for free.
Hi farmer Bob! I did nothing for you but here's $50 I took from Johnny so I can eat your apples but you can spend that to buy Johnny's oranges.
If you want my apples at least put some effort if you can. Universal job guarantee is more fair to workers until productivity really swings up and charity becomes convenient enough for basic income programs.
Could I quit my job and live with that?
How did it work out?
Hope that it will be payed with fresh printed money. In that case we just need to stay in crypto and other assets.
the issue stems from the fallacy that every person deserves to live a comfortable life regardless of what they do.
the solution isn't to steal money from valuable people and businesses, only for their money to come back to sell goods to them. it just means they're giving away their work for free. automation makes it even simpler to maintain production at the limit of what the worthy population can afford, and does wonders for providing automated security/segregation of the large useless population while the rest of society waits for them to die, and the population to shrink back to manageable levels.
tax the middle class
