OP's using 50x leverage (highest available for ETH), meaning he's trading with 50 x [his initial investment]. bitmex loans him the surplus so the potential P/L is significantly higher.

I haven't actually used nigmex, but I assume that if the price moves against him and his unrealized loss exceeds his initial investment, then bitmex takes back their loan and OP get's "liquidated", meaning he loses his entire initial investment. That can happen very easily since his contribution is only 1/50=2%, so if ETH moves up 2% then he gets JUSTed
