It's ultimately a cope for not being able to control one's environment. People take on pets and care for them so that they can affirm that there is some order to the world and that the world can be good. They are an affirmation.
If you want to profit from it, sell "Wellness" for pets. Convince people that they need your offering to do well by the animal and plant the idea that if they do not purchase your offering, then their pet's world is not good and there is no order to it.
It could be something as dumb as aromatherapy for pets, or a seaweed supplement to reduce gas and improve digestion.
Essentially, you are looking for a wellness trend that can be projected onto pets. Preferably choose something that does not address a real problem so that you aren't solving anything. When the pet eats the placebo, it will still be happy because the owner relationship is good. The owner will feel like they are caring for the animal and will feel better about themselves (which might make the animal happier).
