If you're an undergrad now, get a technical degree. Compsci, math, stats, econ (if you can get a B.S. in it). I fucked up and got a shit tier job out of school and ended up wanting a lot more. Went back to school to get technical skill and even before graduating I landed myself into a decent job that's helping me build skills for data science. It's never too late to change your course

Sensitivity to that sort of thing obviously depends on the client - Fortune 500 clients don't even look at the bills, so you work as many hours as you need to get the job done perfectly. Some are more cost sensitive and want to pay 50% of the hours for 85% perfection, which is doable.
