Get an engineering degree they said

>get an engineering degree they said
>you'll make good money they said
>you won't have to work outdoors doing manual labor they said
>you'll have nice working hours they said

Attached: 1547775805076.png (751x684, 683K)

who ever said that

boomers probably

Yeah boomers got me

>Meanwhile I work from home while making 200k a year

Should have chosen Physics, retard.

What do you do?

I accidentally got a chemistry degree

>HE BOUGHT THE TOP

Only have yourself to blame.

Mech engineer is meme

>trusting boomers
>ever
They lie and lied to us about everything. The entire world they constructed was done with a wink and a nod, since it was entirely supported by massive debt they intended to foist onto the next generation the whole time.

Boomer Genocide Now.

Made the common mistake of getting a degree/job you don't like that people told you to get because of x y or z instead of just getting a job you like.

But i liked it.

I at least have a shit padding job I'm interviewing for

Attached: 1547300389389.jpg (426x400, 13K)

I do like engineering. Putting shit together on a construction site isn't engineering.

Attached: 1545534743937.gif (404x347, 1.4M)

this.

Thats like foreman/site manager

I'm not in charge of anyone. I literally have a toolbag and go around fixing things.

Analytics for a gaming company: mostly BI reporting/strategy with a little light predictive modeling/forecasting.

I honestly think it has fuckall to do with the degree, I was just being obnoxious. That is my real salary though.

How long have you been doing that line of work? It doesn't sound to me like you got that salary straight out of school. Did you have to teach yourself programming? Interested to know more since I am a physics undergrade at UC San Diego lol.

Same boat, can't even find a degree relevant job let alone a well paying one.

Boomers memed me hard.

I'm thinking of becoming an electrician as my community here doesn't have a lot of 'em, and as a side hustle, carpentry. I know carpentry pays dick, but an electrician gets reasonable pay. I'm not sure if the boomers got me as well, though.

Is it that hard to find a job?
Why the fuck was everyone pushing STEM degrees a few years ago?

>Kicked out of school for breakdown
>Work some shitty side gigs
>Boomer parents insist I can't be successful without a degree
>Hamstring any non-college job endeavors
>Removed from running to execute trust because no degree
>Finally back in school
>Don't even like electrical engineering anymore because I'm a sophomore when I would have otherwise graduated two years ago

Sometimes I feel like I should just go meet back up with my bros from high school and become a mechanic. I Wasted the rest of my teens and now my early 20's for the university meme and am only now getting treatment for the stuff that they kicked me out and left me to fester in. I would just drop out and finally do something else now but I'd probably get disowned.

should have done civil engineering or architecture if you wanted a desk job not construction management

I sit at a desk surrounded by people I hate while trying to appear busy despite having no work to do. Every day is the worst day of my life.

In order to put downward pressure on wages in STEM fields, same reason why H1B is such a huge thing. The massive oversupply of STEMfags was abundantly clear right from the start.
The silicon valley boomers are very good friends with government officials and put those connections to good use. I guess they never miss, huh?

This is exactly me. The worst part is now the cubes are so low that everyone can see what you are doing at all times so you can't even lurk Jow Forums. When will it end?

We have bitcoin now to defend against fiat boomercoins. If you are still boomercucking its your fault.

I’m in an open concept plus security cameras on me. I need the money but honestly I hope I get fired.

>engineering
>nice working hours
Kek. Engineering is a meme. You spend hours upon hours studying dull dreary shit, so you can get a job working hours upon hours doing dully dreary shit, and your coworkers are chinks and indians.

Sure the pay is high, but the quality of life is lower

I ama mechanical engineer who who specialized in robotics/controls. I now work as a controls engineer, which somehow landed me a job as a construction worker. Again, I do not manage people: I do physical labor.

>Sure the pay is high
No it's fucking not. I took this job because it had the best pay at $29.50 an hour. My other offers were for $25 and $27 an hour. The electricians on my site make $52.50 an hour without a college degree, and I'm doing very similar work to them.

>get an accounting degree they said
>guaranteed jobs they said
>you'll make good money they said
>the jobs will practically beat your door down to hire you they said
Same.
Alright so is there any way to return a degree for a refund? You buy a house you don't like you can sell it, you buy a car that's a lemon you can sue/resell. Where's our recourse?

There’s none. I have removed all my info from alumni shit and I will never give another dime to my (((alma mater)))

I guess you could default on your student loans but that fucks you more than anyone else.

I've been in industry 5 years. I have a masters (almost a PhD really but I quit.) I did a couple years consulting as a data scientist before settling down at my present company. First job starting salary was $71k back in early 2014.

>got computer engineering degree from canadian university
>shit for brains, barely passed all courses
>got same degree as all the tryhards

3yrs later now have 110k/yr job work from home.. barely work more than 2hrs/day...

everything i do day to day I just google and copy how to do it from some rando on stackoverflow

You sound mentally ill and you need to get the help you so desperately need.

Attached: smile.jpg (300x169, 10K)

what work are you supposed to have in theory?

go be a civils cad monkey.

>which somehow landed me a job as a construction worker
"Somehow" meaning due to your own ineptitude. I mean really, who else can you blame?

Is aerospace a meme or legit

I was incredibly hesitant to since the time I got kicked out I actually had gone to get help saying I knew something was up and wanted to resolve it before it became a bigger issue, and they just threw me headlong to the wolves and washed their hands of liability. I've been so lonely. I've slept in cars, on benches, etc. in the interim, being homeless a few times trying to pursue the degree my family won't respect me without while my mental state worsened. I never trusted and still don't really trust the people that say they're "help" anymore, and I really don't like people trying to probe for a feel on my psyche. That said, now what, six years later? I'm trying to get an ADHD assessment but they want to assess EVERYTHING and I'm going to have to game the examination because I don't need them looking at my everything when I asked about one thing.

what Canadian university?

Feels bro but we will make it one day
t. Mech engineer

>halfway through my degree realize im a complete brainlet and i cant even my classes anymore
So now what
All that money and time gone down the drain

That's how much I make doing consumer loan processing at a bank and I have a useless liberal arts degree lmao

queens, the school of rich privileged white ppl..
tuition was like 40-50% more vs. comparable program at say UoT or Waterloo

study more than they do that's all

>dude just study more, time is infinite
Tired of this meme
I have bills to pay and family to take care of. Theres no time left to study more than i already do.
Starting to think i was dealt a bad hand and this game is rigged

yeah, the game is rigged but you can always become an electrician

this is my job. exactly.

I work in aviation. it is a meme job in my opinion. I am doing simple stuff like drawings and technical documentation. tottally dull. zero innovation. zero responsibility. low pay. the only reasonable career path is becoming a project manager.

Was thinking of pursuing aircraft mainteance because i want to be a mechanic but heard working on cars is a bad job. What do you think?

So I found an entry level contact position as a ME finally that I'm gonna use for experience, only pays 16-18 an hr and I have the interview tomorrow

I'm going to ask for 18, how can I make sure I get it?

>thinking civil eng or architecture is any better
we're glorified product specialists.
We pick something known to work out of the catalogue, we copy the specs into another document, clean up the line work, send it off before the deadline.

The worst is that management is usually just some old fogey engineer who was never trained in management.
They bobble the project and so we all miss the deadline and have hell to pay.

They know you’re a crazy person seeking amphetamines because you’ve already diagnosed yourself and won’t take actually good advice. You want to fuck up your brain even more on top of your existing problems?

Join the Air Force if you want to go that route. They’ll pay you instead of charging you. Planes and cars are different worlds.

Is being a nurse a meme job? Starts at 30/hr

ya got boom'd

same. i have an engineering degree but cant find a job.

BOOMED dot com

what do engineers make nowadays?

I know they were good paying jobs in the 90's

I'm in the same boat. I still don't know why the fuck they hired me (and keep hiring people) when there clearly isn't enough work for them to do. Everyone else seems busy all of the time though, sometimes I wonder if they've got the same amount of work as me and are just far slower at it. But a while ago in a different team in the same company, there was a guy who tracked everyone's utilisation rates in a dodgy spreadsheet. He said the ideal utilisation rate was 80%, which would mean that one day a week you've got nothing to do. I think back then my utilisation rate was about 30%. The real problem is these fucking open plan offices, because we just can't spend the whole day fucking around like boomers used to do in offices and cubicles.

If its entry level, honestly just make sure you get the job.

I got diagnosed with clinical depression but they just kicked me out and didn't offer any actual sort of service, why should I bother with whatever else they're interested in using as a reason to shoo me off?

>TFW I t. Engineer makes 60k
>TFW union techs make 120k
>TFW I'm in charge of union techs
>TFW they fuckuo it's my responsibility

That's not a thing.
