Aside the three chain split there is also a block reward reduction + some technical updates, which are only relevant to devs.
Crypto community just talk about the fork like it's a big deal because nothing else is happening right now. Ppl be bored.

I am not sure if decrease in reward will do much to the price . You can see that whenever that happened it did not affect the price that much. Same with BTC , it did see some growth because it was already trending in that direction.
Or at least it will not be an instant one , although on a fundamental level it would make sense for the price to go up.

no, the platform effect of ethereum is far too strong to allow for minority forks from here on out. miners and dissenters have only one option other than eth, ethereum classic.
