What is this "work" thing you speak of?

Pizza maker and driver. Studying my way into a STEM degree.

Pizza life is only sustainable as a driver if your area is decent in tips, you use old beater cars with decent mileage and are a spend thrift.

>Yo, what do I need to get a job on cargo vessels other than a TWIC card.
It's different from country to country so I suggest you go to your local marine transport authority, requirements for ratings should be less than for officers and engineers.

>I've got a college degree, fluent in Russian in addition to English.
It's a plus. They seem to prefer those with college degrees and previous military training on the correlation it both has with being able to withstand pressure and stress.

>Fucked up by not going to the merchant marine academy so I doubt deck officers are possible.
Well it does have its upsides, you'd stay relatively fit being ratings. The more you move up the more white collar it gets.

I did that off and on. It's more about how many drivers desu. One place I was the only driver and took 5-6 orders per trip and made 150-200 a day. Another place I was the only person big brained enough to handle multiple orders after a string of complaints about the other drivers, so they gave me all the best trips and had it ready before I walked in the door to keep me from quitting. I made 150 a day only working 5-6 hours at that place

That's very true about the number of drivers playing a huge role.

On a busy night, I'll take a lot of doubles. Worked this past Christmas as the only driver and nothing but 4-5 deliveries. Lots of good tips and an ungodly number of stiffs.

Had one run where I earned about $2 on tips on a 4 pie that took 30 minutes due to routing.

Corporate is pushing for 70% singles and franchise is pushing for 80% singles.

They want my store to pretty much double drivers yet keep costs down. The more experienced drivers (45+ years of experience among two) are considering leaving due to the lack of money to be made.

Which broker do you recommend?

Yeah the very last time I drove they kept hiring and it was single orders only. Not worth it. Turn over got extremely high. So I started taking an hour to do the delivery, and when the idiot franchise owners come to the store I pretend to be a 70 Iq monkey to mock them. They would come in their failing store and start obsessing over little stupid things like exact measuring of ingredients and microsaving on disposable items lol. The manager had to kick them out during rush hour because they were holding everyone up. She quit the next week for a better job because the Boomer owners blame her for their own incompetence, then the new manager had a mental breakdown because all the employees stopped caring about speed so she got wrecked day after day on rush hour with fuck ups and 2+ hour waits lol.

I ended up switching to part time Uber when that was a new thing. I don't want to do it again but somehow it was good times

Nothing but single orders definitely isn't worth it. Sounds like Uber was a lot more lucrative.

Lol at you doing your long deliveries and pretending to not know what to do. Excessive micromanaging ain't cool more really effective.

For my franchise, the manager's bonuses are tied to food and labor.

Biggest culprit is cheese, so that's the ain't focus.

Beyond that, the other stores in the area are such a mess we're mostly left alone.
