Obama nationalized student loans which means colleges are guaranteed money from the government and the students get a loan that can't be dismissed through bankruptcy. College prices doubled + during Obama's presidency because of that move, not that anyone blames him.

So in America, universities charge a lot more than they're worth because boomer parents tell their kids they'll be in poverty without a degree, so they get a loan of about $15k per year just for a public university, and graduate with $60k in loans typically and a degree that is more often than not not very useful. Then the ironically end up more broke than if they did something other than college.

The system is slowly starting to fix itself though, a lot of states offer you an associate's degree for free now, meaning you just have to go to university for 2 years to get your degree. Depending on what you're majoring in, that's not too bad.

Not larp - I have a CS degree and graduated with about $180K debt. Basically if you are out of state like I was, you pay double tuition. Pretty easy to rack up 100K+ then.

i majored in fine art at a state uni. paid off loans 2 years after graduation. Fast forward 10 years, I'm in IT working on Enterprise networks. Art is the ultimate meme degree.

RISD painting fag here. Learn 3D modeling/rendering and make bank in any city doing renderings/CAD/CNC/3d printing work. I did it in like a summer. Make and enjoy art not for money, because you will never "make it" financially in art, and if you are the .01% of artists who do, you are probably just getting like 60K-80K a year. Plus, once you accept that you are making art without any hope of financial return, you will make better art.
