>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy? Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.
If the market closed green or close to it I'd expect another heavily red day tomorrow. Looks like we're gonna be green and everyone who buys inverse etfs premarket will get fucked.
Knee can you post your trades today? It was super interesting day, for me it was another case of me looking at futures, thinking we were going to gap up then bleed, and being too coward to short. What's your take on it?

something chosen with hindsight, to illustrate a predetermined strawman argument?
Why invest in the stock market funds like VTI, VOO, or SPY over individual stocks? I understand it's generally safer, but over the long term couldn't individual stocks still be a better option with better returns and dividends?
Adrian White
Like why wouldn't you want to YOLO or high risk/high reward a certain percentage of your investments
No one can beat the average over a long time period. You can index into growth or invest in individual growth stocks to match the average. It depends on your time line and risk tolerance.

Nintendo a buy?

told you guys to go long crude after Friday's close
it will bounce back to 57/58, its not too late to get on for an easy trade
Probably not it. It only rises with hype, the news itself, no matter how good, always returns it to $34
Matthew Barnes
yes

The thing about exchange-traded funds is that they are traded on exchanges. It doesn't matter where you have your account, you can just buy and sell them on the open market from any broker. So go with whoever offers the smallest fees and the greatest utility for whatever your needs are.
Anthony Price
Which is why I sorta wanna snag it when it’s under 34. Although half of the investment would be for nostalgias sakes (which is kinda ironic because nostalgia is the main thing keeping them afloat)
Michael Reyes
depends on fees. If they don't charge fees, then it doesn't matter.
I'm a college student and have an internship I devote almost no time to the stock market on a daily basis, I just hodl and watch/wait I do all my research beforehand
Isaiah Bennett
how much time do you devote to daily smg posting
Isaac Miller
/smg/ has announced a buyout of berkshire hathaway
John Ramirez
Not much
Liam Allen
>not much >spends most mornings, afternoons and nights posting in /smg/ and stocktwits I do it too but who the fuck are you kidding lol
Instead of playing a game or texting on my phone during my downtime, I post on /smg/ and check my GALT
Asher Green
see It really doesn't take that much time to make a post and then go back to what you were doing

I love that story about the Amazon AI that had to be reprogrammed because it was referring a large number of male engineer applicants because it determined that the male engineers working at Amazon were statistically superior to the female engineers.
David Miller
wheres my conference call? this shit said 7pm

I'd say a moderately acceptable deal has been price in. Great deal has not. Markets currently trading high for a mediocre deal.
The conditions that existed back in October are still in full force right now. Market drop was not really about China. It was mainly fed hikes and fear coming off the forever bull of 2017. Now there has been a solid month of some pretty lackluster earnings from the blue chips. Where is the impetus to push back up to ATH? Flat or retrace down a fair amount to get people buying again seems like the most likely scenario here.
Charles Jackson
no trading today and probably for few days :( too sick
