I thought companies like Tencent Holdings would be doing the opposite with such crazy revenues... Also, new to stock market and trading in general...
Why did (a lot of) video game companies drop in stock value recently?
Other urls found in this thread:
because the games are fads, thats why money is moving back into EA
100’s of articles came out proving that video game addiction is the silent killer in most men.
The newest battlefield was a bust since they went full sjw
People might be burned out from lootboxes and dlc along with games feeling the same these days.
They went full retard
the only companies in the gaming sector you should buy are sne, ntdoy, msft, amd, and nvda
Having a rewarding challenge from games is dead and now it's dominated by microtransactions. In the case of TakeTwo, they had GTA 5 which made a killing off microtransactions, but now they have Red Dead Redemption 2. Nobody wants to buy an ingame horse for $20.
blizz got woke too and appealing to casuals and blue hairs. crash started after diablo "mobile" announcement or something
the gaming bubble has popped
The whole tech sector took a hit recently. EA took a hit when belgium banned lootboxes and BattleField 5 underperformed. However dont think EA is going anywhere and after the news cycles out their stock will bounce back.
I just lurk /v/ and trade the opposite.
EA paid off pretty well when Apex Legends released and /v/ was SEETHING.
Non-meme answer: institutional investors are at odds with gamers. Investors expect major titles like Anthem, Battlefield V, Red Dead Online to become massive money machines like Fortnite. Any major game that fails to continually milk their playerbase is deemed a failure, despite selling millions of copies

lmao
Because video games fucking suck now. Video game companies used to give their developers free reign to do whatever the fuck they wanted. Now everything is about profits. Creativity is stifled and takes a back seat to graphics. Everything is about fucking graphics these days. Who gives a fuck about whether a game is fun or not as long as it looks good. It's fucking depressing. Haven't bought a video game since 2006. That was the last good year for games before downloadable content totally fucked everything.
2006 was the last good year before everything died in the recession.
Yes, but Xbox 360 was released in late 2005. At the time, the whole concept of downloadable content and in-game purchases was in its infancy, and in that 2005-2006 period it was the last of developers actually putting a shit ton of effort into making a game good and actually making it worth paying $60 for. 2006 gave us great games like Elder Scrolls 4, Gears of War, and Ghost Recon. After 2006, everything got watered the fuck down. The whole industry since then has become all about money and graphics. Who gives a fuck about fun anymore?. Look up a company called Rare. You may have heard of it. Smh.
The AAA gaming industry is Cancer. There are still fun games being made but it's mostly by indie developers. If you look at what is actually being played on Twitch almost none of it is from AAA developers anymore.
This Investor mentality will Kill AAA publishers. We need an ICO for gaming.
Well Activision, Blizzard specifically has just destroyed themselves, some fucking how. Look at their titles
> Warcraft
> Starcraft
> WoW
> Diablo series
Still lose money by destroying the games and shitting on their core base.
We're beyond peak cancer for the AAA games market and consumers are finally fed up in significant numbers.
Nickle and diming DLC schemes, buggy undercooked games released yearly, downgrading games so it'll look "better" on one console compared to the other. Complete disregard for the hardcore gaming market in favour of illusory untapped potential of fickle mobile market and unrealistic expectations of hardcore gamers as brand loyal consumers who will buu any shitty mobile game as long as it is Diablo, C&C or other "big name" brand.
Over reliance on marketing to oversell literal trash with pre-ordered season passes that will be dumped in favour of starting development of a new game to repeat the process and gain more cash inflow. Pandering to leftist activist to gain favourable coverage, changing beloved franchises and changing their focus and themes, alienating fans.
And that about sums up how you kill an industry
I'm actually happy video games suck these days. It helped me a lot to overcome my addiction and have a good, stable and happy life. Even took some profits in Jan'18. Vidya is just the biggest time waster and I regret to my bones that I wasted 10 years of my life between 20 and 30 mostly with gaming. But I can't change it now, so I look forward and will never touch this shit again. Suddenly everything appears. Fitness, money, friends, girls, success in job and subsequently happiness when I eliminate my bad habits that pulled me down.
Seriously, if you want to be happy, stop hiding in your man cave with anime figures and stop wasting time. It's just too precious. Just stop and set your priorities right. It's not easy and won't be achieved within a day, but it's worth it. It really is.
Based.
They started making games for girls and trannies
Kek
Which are you
I do have to say, I can see Nintendo crushing it in the future, I played switch with some friends recently and from mario kart to smash was comfy fun for hours on end. Haven't enjoyed video games that much since I was a child.
I legit stopped gaming at 17 when I played HoN and literally everyone else would start getting mad and threatening to find and kill everyone else irl.
I though that is strange that I'm the only non-retard until I realized that as long as I'm playing,. I am the same grade of regard. So I stopped.
>it's worth it.
Ok grandpa
