Again, it will not work in America. Bernie's plan, Yang's plan, AOC's bullshit. None of it will work in such a diverse and complicated situation as in America. Lets say it does make $1000 the new 0.00. Do you know what that means? It means that illegal immigrants who don't have citizenship will not get the UBI. Therefore their life will literally be unsustainable in the US, therefore they will be forced to leave the US because they can't pay for anything here even if they do work illegal jobs.

What's your point? I'm fully aware that AOC and Sanders tax reform is at odds with the social democracies of Europe. They have relatively flat income tax. I think the top marginal rate in Norway is 40%, but it comes in real low at around $45k. It's similar in my country (UK), 45%. Some countries will have a top marginal rate closer to 60%. That plus a VAT at 20% or so is how they fund their social democracies. Universal healthcare, free or heavily subsidized uni tuition, among other public services.

Also it's hilarious when Americans think pointing out these services aren't literally free is some kind of gotcha moment. 'Free' refers to 'free at point of service'.

Yang is proposing a VAT at half the European level. A single-payer system would be cheaper than your current bastardized system (you pay twice per capita than all european countries, to worse quality and accessibility almost across the board). Consumer spending is a waste when people spend their hard earned money on twinkies instead of a vegetable garden. The healthcare aspect is terrifying. The obesity epidemic is at an all time high. The quality of food is diminished and GMO's don't help anything. Proven that they reduce the nutrient contents down to 5-10%. Modified corn and ethanol made from it. Who knows if the emissions from burning GMOed contribute to atmospheric changes that are harmful to the environment. We have a major loss of forage and we rapidly destroy this earth everyday while not putting back what we destroy at a faster rate. Money is not the solution. A change in how we live our lives will make a difference. I don't think we can do anything about it. Although the earth is plentiful of water and land, there is too much consumption and not enough regeneration.

Yes you have those that will use the $1,000 for the betterment of themselves and their families. But you also have those that will mishandle that $1,000. I think an AI system that determines your worth based on participation and investment in a country will be the final step towards the new world order. Automated value based on certain criteria being met or not being met. Scary times are ahead.

You don't adapt by allowing technology to take over. You adapt by avoiding technology and being human again. I'm 100% behind some aspects of Yang's philosophical thoughts.
