i used to be part of a non-noveau rich clique of young people in the city i studied in, in germany.

i grew up in a village, surrounded by rather close-minded people whom i never felt close to, i always felt like something was wrong with me. it was heart-warming to finally meet people with a similar worldview like me - driven, young, forward-lookiung and with a positive "can-do-everything" mindset. such a worldview was also reflected in the music they listened to. my village schoolmates listened to dubstep, techno and rap, the rich listened to white, positive music - like imagine dragons.

lyrically, imagine dragons are on par with sloth from the goonies.

What? You misread me. When I go to shows for decent but kind of less mainstream music, I never see actual poor people and neither truly rich people. Then again, this varies according to the music genre.

My point was that poor people usually don't have decent musical taste because they're too busy with fullfilling the first levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs and that actual rich people usually only don't have musical interests besides the current shit on what's happening on the mainstream wrt music.
